Cliffs Notes: On a night when the Texas Longhorns needed a win like we all need air, Rodney Terry's team took home a 61-53 win over No.22 Missouri at the Moody Center.

The Participants: Texas (12-6, 1-4) and Missouri (15-3, 4-1)

Pre-Game KenPom Rankings: Texas (No. 42) and Missouri (No. 28)

Game MVP: After scoring 34 against Auburn, Arthur Kaluma had combined for 22 points and 18 rebounds in 85 minutes over the last three games, but the big man led the Longhorns in points (14) and rebounds (12), while combining for 4 steals/blocks (the rest of the starting line-up combined for 0 blocks and 1 steal).

You Won't Believe It: The Longhorns beat a ranked team on a night when it shot 34.0/20.0/76.7. It also created only 10 turnovers. They got by on guts tonight.

Big Little Moment: The Longhorns took a 30-20 lead with 1:57 remaining in the first half on a Tre Johnson 3-pointer, but a quick 5-0 run by the Tigers in the next minute kept the game in single digits going to halftime when it looked like Texas was on the verge of creating real separation. The Tigers swallowed up a 7-point half-time deficit in a span of 4:34 in the second half and the Longhorns never totally took control of the game ever again.

Slow start: The two teams went into the opening TV timeout (15:41) combining to make only 1 of the first 10 shots, including 0 for 6 from 3-point land. In case you're wondering Missouri was the only team to make a shot during that stretch, taking a 2-1 lead into the first timeout. The Longhorns didn't actually make its first shot from the floor until Kadin Shedrick hit a shot at the rim with 11:58 left in the first half.

Tre's Off-Night: Star freshman Tre Johnson shot 3 of 15 from the floor tonight, including 1 of 8 from downtown, but he hit the glass and played a nice all-around, high IQ game, despite the shooting woes.

ESPN Bracketology: Just thought I would give everyone a view of how things look at this stage of the season.
