Interesting numbers show how thefts are stealing autos from dealerships.

With alarming success, criminals are stealing vehicles by hacking keyless entries or performing key fob relay attacks. It is critical that the dealership industry works with law enforcement and the insurance network to develop more effective strategies for combating auto theft. According to the National Insurance Crime Bureau 2023 Vehicle Theft Report, 1,020,729 vehicles were reported stolen last year. Check out the top three states with the highest volume of total thefts in 2023 and the largest percentage increase in thefts year over year (YoY) below. The District of Columbia saw an increase in thefts by 64% which is over three times the national theft rate. These are big states, but also large number of stolen vehicles.
