If we beat them next week they can forget about about a BCS bowl period. We can now see that what Baylor did passing the ball was no fluke.
Before the season is over we might see that Lincoln Riley is not meshing with his coaching staff. He didn't have time to stop and evaluate the current staff. This is not unusual when you make a coaching change in June. It would not surprise me if Mike Stoops is let go at the end of the season.

Did anyone notice this?
After the game an ISU player took the state flag of Iowa and planted it at midfield. Just long enough for the camera to catch it.

It was an Iowa St. Coach that took the flag away and they apologized to an ou player close by. Classy in my view.
Hey Bell. If many in your fan base get their wish by Mike Stoops getting fired, who is your favorite or other names being tossed around for DC?Well I'm going to give Riley the benefit of the doubt here being a first year HC and all.
I personally don't think he'll get fired but perhaps he'll be encouraged to find employment elsewhere at the end of the season, but even that is questionable in my opinion. I have a great fear that Ruffin McNeil was brought in as the heir apparent under the guise of being the current DT coach. I hope I'm wrong. My memory of McNeil as a DC is when Tech came to OU in 08' I believe, ranked top 5 with Graham Harrel, Crabtree etc and playing for all of the Big 12 marbles, and getting thrashed like 65-13 or some crap.
You know ou much better than me. I just feel it is a certainty that he is gone after this year. I have seen it so many times here on both the oc and dc. ou even made changes at oc a couple of times due to pressure. Plus, I would think the ou's top brass wouldn't allow ruffin to be next dc. I wouldn't like ruffin either.
Well I'm no expert but I'm not sure if the change at OC was actually forced or Stoops fully acknowledging and unfortunately accepting the fact that to date there has not been 1 Big 12 DC that I have seen that has shown the ability to be known as a D.C. That can shut down these Big 12 offenses. Stoops basically knew he needed an OC that can score more than everyone else basically acknowledging that great defense ain't going to happen in the Big 12.
If you've noticed I've been harder on Bob Stoops over the years than I have Mike Stoops. Don't get me wrong, there are things that Mike Stoops does that drives me crazy like giving opposing receivers 10 yard cushions on 3rd and 3 but at the same time, those same corners who have been burned with their lack of coverage skills the last couple of games are probably driving Mike Stoops crazy. There were several instances in the ISU game where OU defenders missed tackles etc. I can't realistically put that on Stoops.
in the Big 12 I believe it's easier to improve your offenses than it is to improve your defense. So, I'm not against getting rid of Stoops but who do you bring in that you can point at and say "that's the guy"?
To add to this, as you know it's all about the jimmy's and joes. OU has several true freshmen playing on defense because I believe Riley recognizes the need to play your best guys regardless of age. Stoops really let our recruiting go down the last 5 years he was there. I'm amazed at how many 3 star players Stoops took in those years.
Also, most of the other D.C.'s in the league are lining up 3 dlineman and dropping 7 or 8 in coverage, Same as Stoops. Texas is utilizing a jack lb, just like OU.

I was laughing because Mayfield lost the Heisman and blowu lost their playoff spot in that one terrible home loss to Iowa St. Hope that helps. Lulz.

A) I'm able to chew gum and walk at the same time. I'm able to be disappointed in Saturday's result and still laugh at your faceplant at home vs ISU. They're not mutually exclusive.
B) Mutually exclusive means you can only have one of them at once.

D) No, Mayfield will not be able to overtake Saquon Barkley with that big hickey on his resume. He might go to NYC but his chances of winning went buh bye.
