I shouldn't be surprised. I know that the left is obsessed with guns. For some odd reason the left has brainwashed themselves into believing that stricter gun laws will end attacks like the Orlando shooting. Why in the world would anyone believe such a thing?
1. We know that stricter gun laws don't necessarily prevent shootings like these. France has very strict gun laws, and yet we saw the Paris attacks and Charlie Hebdo.
2. We know that a gun is not required to kill massive numbers of people. Terrorists will kill you with whatever they can find. Bombs, planes, knives, swords. It doesn't matter.
3. We know that background checks don't necessarily prevent these shootings. Mateen had a background check for his gun. He passed. He was a licensed security officer. He had a firearms license. Hell, he was personally investigated multiple times by the FBI. You will never implement a stricter background check than that.
Here's the sad part, though. By focusing on guns, we ignore the real problem. There are people who want us dead. They believe it is good for them to kill us. They believe they will be rewarded for doing this. They are perfectly willing to kill themselves if they can kill you too. These people live throughout the world, including in America, and there are a lot of them. Regardless of what we call them, they call themselves Muslims. And here we sit, actually contemplating whether tougher gun laws will stop these psychopaths. As if some radical Muslim is going to say, "Well, I was going to kill a bunch of infidels, but I couldn't pass the background check to get a gun. Guess I'll just be a productive member of society."
Like I said, I shouldn't be surprised. But it sure is disappointing.
