Jalen Hurts--- it's as I feared

Nothing in that article surprises me at all. Dude is a natural born leader who people would run through walls for. The question is, can he lead the OU offense like it has been run the last 3 years? Based on what I have seen from his two years at Alabama, he doesn't have the accuracy or the arm that Baker has and doesn't have the elite athleticism that Kyler has. He has intangibles off the freakin charts, but will he be able to do what that offense needs him to do? That is the question and won't be answered until possibly the second weekend in October in Dallas.

He is not a douche like spanker gayfield or the midget. He is a good guy by all accounts I have seen and Riley is a hell of an offensive coach. I am sure Riley can improve his accuracy by the fall. I am not up to date on this but, maybe some of you are. Is a Riley type system more of a "throw to an area" and let the receiver do the work? If so, would the defensive strategy be best to knock them off routes early? I can't complain. Texas did a decent job on ou last fall. We just didn't have the horses on the DL to contain. The "almost comback" in the RRS frustrated the hell out of me and I believe Murray won the Hesiman that day regardless, of the losing effort.
ou sucks!

Nobody on your team should be dumb enough to actually believe that. They are pretty talented

yeah....I agree with this. OU will still be a powerhouse on offense. We have to see if Hurts can develop more accuracy than he has shown in the past. Ryley is the coach to get him there for sure.

OU will still have to prove they are improved on defense to get over the top however. If they do that they will be damned competitive .

At this point, Riley has to actually make a concerted effort to not have a qb win the Heisman. They tell me that Hurts is actually a step up from Murray.

Bell....you say that....but NOBODY is the running threat Murray was, plus he had a cannon of an arm that was very damned accurate. I dont see Hurts eclipsing Murray in any category but class.
I didn’t say I agreed with that statement but apparently some reporter actually said that. I’m on record saying I never thought Hurts was much of a passer at Bama but I’m sure he’ll do much better under Riley.

Murray is a freak. One of the best runners at the QB position, Vick like with how quick, agile and fast he is. On top of that, a great arm, accurate and can throw the deep ball. Not many with all the tools he had.

Hurts is probably a better dude overall, better teammate, but I'm not sure he can run or pass like Murray.

I've probably watched Hurts play close to 20 times. If Riley turns him into an elite passer, I will be impressed and shocked. But he is a leader and a hell of a runner. He isn't nearly as fast as Murray, but he runs like a running back. He will run over db's and is unbelievably hard to bring down in the 4th quarter when the defense is gassed. I prefer him as a runner over Murray, he won't slide 10 times a game to keep from getting hurt. His game is kind of similar to Ehlinger, but a little more speed. Ehlinger might be a little more accurate of a passer. They are really similar in my book.

Hurts was made for Alabama, I just don't see him as a guy who has any business throwing the ball 40+ times a game. I bet Oklahoma is pretty balanced this year on offense. Hurts will need a running game, and he should be a huge part of that running game.

Hurts is just Ehlinger with a little more speed and an NC ring. Very similar skill set. He also might have a little better quarterback coach. But the number two quarterback is outplaying Hurts early in camp.

The thing about Hurts and Murray, and for that matter, Ehlinger, is that their greatest trait doesn't show up well when you're playing touch football for quarterbacks. All of those guys for different reasons are really hard to bring down. And all make a lot of lemonade.

Hurts squatted 600 pounds two months ago, which got everybody excited. But Tanner Mordecai looks better in the offense to this point. He's been running it for a year and has some quality skills himself, including underrated speed.

But I'd think the biggest factor in however many times OU and Texas play next year, will be which offensive line gets it done. Whoever the quarterbacks are, will be pretty good if they get a chance to make some plays and their offense can run the ball, besides quarterback scrambles and designed stuff.

Both teams ought to be pretty good at the so-called skill positions.

If OU got a defense it wouldnt be fair. We'll get a little taste tonight

I've probably

OU loves running the ball, they run something like 55% of the time since Riley came to OU, and with Hurts' skill set combined with the number of talented backs on the roster, I doubt Hurts will be lobbing the ball 40 times a game. Even Murray averaged 27 attempts per game, something Hurts could be just fine for. Hurts will just have a lower yards per attempt rating. But it may not matter with the receivers they have.

"Dude is allegedly killing at at OU. Furk."

To be honest......EVERYONE is killing it right now......the real question is......Will he be killing it when the season begins.

I watched the OU spring game. I thought Hurts looked pretty good especially considering he’s only been on campus about 3 mos. I believe he went 11-14-174yds. Its only a spring game but Mordecai has a pretty tough go at it and I thought the walk-on Tanner Schafer looked much better than Mordecai did. The only thing I noticed about Hurts that may be something Riley is working on is it appears he sometimes throws off his back foot, possibly floating some balls, but all in all he seemed pretty accurate and appeared to have really good placement in the ball.

I wasn’t able to get a good gauge on the velocity of his passes, deep ball etc., in comparison to his predecessors. He only played 1/2 the game which I believe was 15 mins so kind of hard to get a good read.

Its just a "spring game" but it still looks like Hurts has trouble making all his reads....after his first read he is off and running. Was his first "live" game in a new offense but he more and less looked like the Hurts of old......first read......maybe second....and not sure where to go from there so he tucks and runs. What i expected

Oh......and he was playing against the Ou defense.......so he should've looked good.
The offensive line looked suspect.....but again.....its "spring ball" .....there is still time to improve.

What about Rattler? I thought that he was supposed to be the second coming?

Hard to play quarterback as a true freshman when you're not there for spring practice and you have two pretty quality guys with more experience, who are there.

My bad. I thought that he was already enrolled and on campus. A freshman isn't going to beat out a guy like Hurts anyway though.

Sure is nice to be able to tell big time qb recruits that there is a very good chance he'll make multiple trips to the heisman ceremony if he goes to OU

he'll make multiple trips to the heisman ceremony if he goes to OU,

But, he'll never win a Natty!

Well that shits gonna stop this year also, won't be a 3 peat... gotta feelin a white boy from Texas gonna win it this yr! or some bodies gonna catch his ass sleeping one game this year..maybe Texas, maybe someone else, Bama would not have demoted him from starter unless something other than Tua happened!

But, he'll never win a Natty! And tell him they will always lose the game that means the most...lol Classic sooner shit! That Heisman don't mean shit no more since Bush ****ed it up!

A white boy may win it, but I don't think its the white boy from Texas. My money is on Trevor Lawrence at Clemson. Dude is a more athletic version of Peyton Manning
