Dumb decision!

Strong could do what bob did and be selective of what games to suspend him for . Suspend him for a easy one like Kansas but let him play against OU :)

That sucks man. Glad no one was hurt. Gotta make better decisions, hopefully he learns from it. Could be a blessing in disguise for that young man.

Going to be interesting to see what Strong does here.

Suspended for OkState more than likely. I don't see him getting kicked off the team, I'd put money on anyone of his teammates would've picked him up if he'd just asked.

I was a pretty boring engineering student and I should have earned multiple DWI's....just never got caught. Was dumb, but it could happen to anyone, especially in college.

Teach him a lesson and don't let it wreck his career.
Me too with multiple MIP's and a public intox, after all...it's Austin. But, I was not a student athlete on scholarship when those occurred, nor was I a senior starter.

I bet he gets a couple of games suspension, extra running, and has to put out an apology. Drivers license suspension, probation, fines, and AA classes are what the courts will probably make him do.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if he is all but gone. It will be interesting to see how this is handeled.

Don't know if this is still the case but when I was in school we were all given a business card of a taxi company in austin-- can't remember the name-- but any time 24/7 if we needed a ride to the dorm we just had to call the number, give them the "password" I guess you could call it, and a cabbie came to get us. Free ride home and all we were asked to do was tip the driver.

Zero excuse regardless but if this service is still available then he's a fvcking idiot.

And 4:54 am?? Last time I checked, the bars in Austin shut down at 2am. What was he doing for 3 fvcking hours? Driving around?

I could have had countless dwi's at his age. Fortunately I didn't. These football players are a select few privileged individuals and should conduct themselves that way. I doubt he gets kicked off the team which brings up a good question regarding Strong's core value list. If I'm reading it correctly, drugs and WEARING AN EARRING are core value infractions but dwi is not?

General principles to live by: honesty, treating women with respect and no drugs, stealing or guns...

Clowns that try to make these principles anything more than they are would be looking to get a rise out of someone.

He will be dealt with.

So your answer is yes? No need for you to cry it's just a simple question that I found quite odd. I had never seen the earring rule. Nobody claimed he wouldn't be dealt with.

You're a tool, trolling the board. You don't add any value.
Wrong as usual. You need to stop getting upset and emotional about everything. It's a valid question and I clearly stated I doubt he'll be kicked off and I don't think he should matter of fact. He'll run some laps, miss a game etc.

Is it? Really?

No, I'm certain that you're attempting to pick a scab. You are who you are, there is no changing that. Your sch-tick is old. Unless your google is broken, you can answer your own questions.

To get a clue, it's No Earrings in the football facilities. They can wear their diamond studs on their own time.

From someone who played college ball and currently coaches hs I'd say over 50% of college programs have a no jewelry rule. And over 75% of hs. BUT that only applies to when your in the athletic building, weight room, or on the field. For safety/health reasons and distraction reasons.

Your also not allowed to get tattoo's during the season/spring ball due to health/safety reasons. Seems like common sense to me.

Trust me I have no prob with that rule

I know you are trolling here but where in the world are you getting the earring thing?

Also, core values are not meant to be an exhaustive list. I'd guess Strong takes a DWI just as seriously as he would something like possession of MJ. That said, I also think he has a stricter policy in regards to guns and disrespecting women than many other around the country.

There was usually a common denominator if I was out 2 hours past the bar closing. And I don't remember most of their names.

AUSTIN — Senior offensive lineman Kent Perkins was arrested early Friday morning on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, according to the Travis County jail website.

A source close to the Texas staff believes Perkins could be suspended for the Longhorns next game against the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

UPDATE (8:55 a.m.): Charlie Strong has released a statement. “We are aware of the situation involving Kent Perkins and gathering facts at this time. We’re disappointed in his actions and take a strong stance against drinking and driving. When you get behind the wheel after drinking, you not only risk your life, but the lives of others, and that’s something you just can’t do. We will make sure that Kent learns from this and handle any punishment once we have more information.”

I read about the earring thing which didn't make much sense to me so that's why I asked. Not sure how that's trolling but whatever.
This is the list I was referring to:
1. No drugs
2. No stealing
3. No guns
4. No earrings
5. Treat women with respect
6. attend class

Life's lessons! Good thing is he's still alive and didn't kill anyone to learn from something like this. I'm not innocent from these types of situations either but have learned from pass mistakes and now thanks to Uber and just consumption control.

Agreed---- but let's do the math--

Bar closes at 2am. Drinks are picked up by 2:15. Sugar pants gives you her address. You stumble out if bar at 2:17 and start walking to your car.
2:27 your fire up the engine and start driving from 5th or 7th over to her house which I assume is south of campus. 2:40 you arrive at her house catching every stupid red light on the way.
2:45 you're in the apartment. 3 am you're doing your business. 4:30 you realize you've passed out because she's shaking you to wake you up because you're snoring like a fvcking chain saw. 4:40 you dress and decide this is a smash and dash moment. 4:45 you're in your car smelling like stripper perfume and bad decisions. 12 minutes later you get popped on San Antonio st and 18th.

Sounds about right to me.

Probably pretty close to how it went down.... or.... like a lot of college seniors...

Your at a small house party with your boys because the bar scene is to crowded on a thursday night, chilling in the backyard shooting the bull, playing washers and time gets away from you. Suddenly it's 4 in the morning and you don't want to sleep on some nasty couch and your own bed is calling your name. On your way home you stop and grab some Whataburger, pull back out in front of a cop without using your blinker, and the cops thinking it's 4:50am this dude doesn't use a blinker BAM! Going to give him an easy D-dub, because he was honest and told me he had been drinking.

Sounds eerily familiar.

Moral of the story... Use a $20 UBER! (Or lie to cops, which ever you perfer)
