Kent Perkins arrested for DWI this morning

@clob94 Did y'all have to sign a code-of-conduct policy when you played at UT?

Very common now, clearly states rules and regulations of athletic department or football program. Easy way for admin or coaches to CYA in situations like these. However lots of coaches find loop holes for the really good ones, or turn the other cheek. ie stoops & briles

Sad fact but it's usually the walk-ons and the freshman that get popped the hardest

Typical suspension for DWI is 1 game in CFB if you want something to base this off of.... Charlie hasn't had a DWI while on this job so it's tough to say what he will do.

I don't think it will be lite.

If every college kid who drank and drove (caught or not) was kicked out of school, colleges would go out of business. This is not good, but it is also not the end of the world. It happens, run him till he pukes, rinse and repeat. Sit him a game or 2, and life goes on. Just glad no one was hurt.

Personally, I would put him in the PIT for the next month. Minimum, 3 game suspension.

I read about the earring thing which didn't make much sense to me so that's why I asked. Not sure how that's trolling but whatever.
This is the list I was referring to:
1. No drugs
2. No stealing
3. No guns
4. No earrings
5. Treat women with respect
6. attend class

You are trolling by implying that Charlie cares more about earrings than DWIs, which is a ludicrous thing to say.

And where did this list come from? Everything I have seen includes 1.Honesty 2.Respect women and 3,4,5 No drugs, weapons, stealing.

Wrong as usual. You need to stop getting upset and emotional about everything. It's a valid question and I clearly stated I doubt he'll be kicked off and I don't think he should matter of fact. He'll run some laps, miss a game etc.
Get a life or go troll stoopsie.

Well by your replies, even you think it is a little odd to have earrings as one of the rule breakers, so not sure why you're getting bent about someone asking for clarification, and since you are responding I assume you feel you are in the know. I didn't make up the list and I am attaching the link to a USA Today article where it's listed. Take it up with them. Some of you are a little sensitive and I'm not really sure how you make it through a normal day. Do you accuse everyone in your life who asks valid questions, trolls? Good grief dude. http://www.usatoday.com/story/opini...fl-education-rules-character-column/16480071/

Bruh, why do you think austin wants rid of uber and lift.......

Ain't no money in NOT handing out dwi tickets....

Ha! That would have meant that Mackoprick would have had to sign one too....... kind of hard to lecture your players about morality and accountability while your banging your receptionist behind your wife's back......

For the seventieth time, those stupid core values came from his days at Louisville, where at that time, they were recruiting kids from VERY rough areas of Florida. As ludicrous at it seems, for some kids, those incredibly basic ideas had to be beaten into their skulls.
Perkins made a mistake, and he'll receive some type of punishment (my guess is one game suspension). I'm sure it will be somewhere between the likes of Alabama player's DWI (no punishment), A&M player's PI (suspended, but for a game against a cupcake in November) and complete expulsion.

I don't know the facts about the aggy player you are mentioning but a PI <<<< DWI, and yet you mention a 1 game suspension being okay for the DWI, but infer that it was a joke of a sentence for aggy?

I think one game is sufficient. Two games maybe. It was a mistake. Kid is of drinking age so other than driving while intoxicated it wasn't anything else illegal.

Don't know if this is still the case but when I was in school we were all given a business card of a taxi company in austin-- can't remember the name-- but any time 24/7 if we needed a ride to the dorm we just had to call the number, give them the "password" I guess you could call it, and a cabbie came to get us. Free ride home and all we were asked to do was tip the driver.

Zero excuse regardless but if this service is still available then he's a fvcking idiot.

And 4:54 am?? Last time I checked, the bars in Austin shut down at 2am. What was he doing for 3 fvcking hours? Driving around?

From what I found online he was arrested at 2:52 am and booked at 4:54 am. Not that it makes it better. Shouldn't of happened.

I know Charlie has taken a lot of crap for his "core values" but drinking and driving is something all coaches should take a strong stance against. These days there is no excuse for it and it's a matter of public safety. Kicking him off the team is a bit strong imo, but riding the bench for a game or two seems appropriate.

Talk to Vince. Most college kids I knew would have a drink now and then and how many on this board went to college without ever having a drink? The laws have become very harsh and expensive to drink and drive and really now a big cash cow for law enforcement. He can run the stadium steps, miss a game and drive on.

This right here. Cities, counties and the state don't want DWI's to go away. There is too much money to be made. It's a racket for all of the above, including lawyers.

Affidavit for OL Kent Perkins.

Dude fell asleep in the drive-thru at Raising Cane's and then crashed his car in the parking lot.

2am fried chicken during football season..... somebody is going to get to sit down with the team nutritionist this week!
So my man was sooooo drunk that the clerk woke him up in the drive through and told him to move...... and then he pulls away and crashes 10 seconds later and he's back asleep? Perkins-- bruh--- that's an insane amount of booze.

He in trouble....

Unusual actions: Crying........

Why was he crying...... There's no crying.....

He blew a .178......... that's uh....... pretty high.
Safe to say he wasn't just drinking beer. And he did a field sobriety test. Sucker move. Shut your mouth, put your hands together, get the bracelets on and sit in the back seat. Don't say a word. When they go to whippin out the needle, tell them you're a jahova witness.

No, no earrings is a very common rule for a football team. It was the same for my team in high school. I was just wondering where in the world you were coming to the conclusion that this was a "core value". Don't get team rules and core values mixed up. That USA Today article is referencing team rules, not Charlie's core values.

And overall it doesn't matter if it's a rule or a core value, the only issue I took with you is that you were implying Charlie cares more about earrings than DWIs.

It was a joke because the player was not suspended for the next game. He was allowed to play for another month then had to sit out vs a non con cup cake. If Strong says Perkins punishment is sitting out vs Kansas, it would be equivalent.

Is there any word on what Strong intends to do as far as punishment? This statement is all I have found:

Coach Charlie Strong issued a statement about the seriousness of drunken driving while indicating that he was still looking into the incident.

"We are aware of the situation involving Kent Perkins and gathering facts at this time," Strong said. "We're disappointed in his actions and take a strong stance against drinking and driving.

"When you get behind the wheel after drinking, you not only risk your life, but the lives of others, and that's something you just can't do. We will make sure that Kent learns from this and handle any punishment once we have more information."
