I know Sark won't allow a televised preseason practice scrimmage, but I was hoping to get some kind of coverage with some analysts today. Today's scrimmage is a pretty damn big deal, IMO. LHN seems to be on some kind of auto pilot. They need major executive leadership right now. There is plenty of news to cover with SEC, new football coach, new basketball coach. Perhaps the end is near due to dollar loss, sporadic content affecting viewership or the entry into the SEC. Anybody have anything. Will we be losing LHN Stories and be getting SEC Storied?

Other than the replays of historic UT football games, the occasional baseball and basketball non conference games and one football game a year, I find the network to be unwatchable to me. Too much PC and liberal orthodoxy pushed on the non sports programs.

The only reason that I watch LHN is for Texas baseball. I watch every baseball game when it's televised, and the rare football game when it's televised on there. I agree with you 100% on how annoying the liberal/PC nonsense that is pushed on LHN.

Look, ima break this down for y'all and you ain't gonna like it.

You're not hearing the buzz out of Belmont that you usually hear around this time because, well, there ain't much to tell. Good news has a thousand fathers. Bad news is an orphan. If we had kids lighting up the scoreboard, I assure you, Belmont would have more leaks than the Iraqi navy. But there's nothing there. The hype machine has been too quiet. This tells me the marching orders are "let's keep the expectations to a minimum".

Expectations should be at a minimum. We have a new coaching staff with a new QB and a returning roster that struggled to go 7-3,last year. I know it’s not popular to say but probably shouldn’t expect a heck of a lot. sark went 9-4 his first year at USC and they were coming off all the Reggie Bush sanctions and stuff. If he can get to 9-3 this year( and I think he can) it will be something to build off of. The key for Sark just win the games you are suppose to win and keep the heat off of you this year.

Absolute nonsense, Sark is installing trick play after trick play and everything is being kept under wraps until the second weekend in October

Perhaps. I tend to believe that Sark is keeping it low key as much as possible to avoid the UT hype machine which consumed his recent predecessors. There are very few coaches that can walk the talk like Royal, Switzer, Brown, Saban, Dabo, Meyer, Osborne, et al. (I would include Stoops in that mix but he was really just an ass and not very good with the media). Anyway, no need to try and play that game. It got him in trouble with the liquid courage at USC and Washington. Then he went and got a dose of reality at Alabama and Saban, the college zen master. He’s here to do a job and CDC has got his back and not forcing overwhelming media promotion. The only way to break free from entitlement is to remain quiet and humble. When he starts winning the hype machine will roll.

i do think there is some of that. Sark does come from the Nick Saban school. He’s not exactly a wealth of info, and CDC has kind of turned off a lot of the leaks. I mean after Urban said no, and Texas won the bowl game I think most of us figured Herman was back. Then all the sudden boom Herman is out, sark is in. Very little speculation, very little rumor before hand. I think Texas is a very different environment than maybe it has been in the past, and I think it will it will pay off in the long run

I think it’s obvious he’s just trying his best not to give Louisiana any idea who the starter is. Let’em find out when the game starts.

If Card does get the nod, the question is, does Thompson stick around, or does he hit the portal?

The conventional wisdom is he hits the portal, but I’m not sure that’s the best play for him. He goes to the portal he has no chance at playing on 2021. Card struggles he could take the job back.

I don’t think he will transfer immediately because there is no benefit. To me, the rationale to stay is 1) Card could be ineffective and he gets his full shot to show what he can do 2) He can learn under Sark for the season wherher or not he plays 3) If he leaves to go somewhere else, he is basically in the same situation 4) New transfer rules allow for immediate eligibility as a one time transfer, thus he can just enroll at another school in the spring and not miss a step. In the end, it makes all the sense in the world to be patient and wait until spring. He can pick the best school and the best fit for his skills.

He is.

Heard it 2 days ago. Low expectations.
Hopefully he can be a good enough game manager to get the job done, hopefully Sark's offense will not depend on him having playing hero ball like Sam had to do.

And that’s the issue with the portal and kids these days. Can’t say I blame them but fir the fans damnit:mad: And we, the fans are what really matters here

We can't have a game manager at qb.
Why? We have one of the best RBs in the nation. If Card can complete routine passes and keep defenses honest that's all that is needed of him. Look at Mac Jones last year. I think having play makers at WR is a bigger need in Sark's offense. We need guys who can get open and be a threat on any given play. Not sure we have that.

While I think both of our QBs are more than game managers, I agree. If our defense is as good as I think it is, along with a great run game, a good game manager might be exactly what we need. Solid D and ball control are key in slowing down these Big 12 offenses.

AL’ s offense doesn’t depend on a Vince Young type of play maker. The player makers are at WR and RB. The AL O calls for the QB to get the ball to the play makers with few turnovers. More Mac Jones than Tua.

You heard it from clob, 5-7 on deck...damnit clob, I'm trying to be excited 😂 😂 😂

I think Card is more than a game manager. If I recall, he’s quite mobile and was one of the top dual threat QB’s in his class.
Maybe if a play breaks down he can scramble and pick up some yards, but Sark doesn't seem to run his QBs on purpose and I don't see it being a significant part of his offense. He might need to evade some pass rushers though.

But the ol worries me. I don't if it's true or just rumors but Karic is listed as a backup ot. And that Hayden Conner has worked his way into the rotation. In think Hayden is in there because of the numbers problem in the ol. But we really won't know until next week.
