Tulsa Union cornerback Tre Brown has continued to hear from other programs despite his longtime commitment to the Oklahoma Sooners. In the month of December alone Brown has continued to earn new offers with West Virginia, Texas, Baylor, and USC all throwing their hat into the ring.
Still, Brown maintains his commitment to the Sooners is strong.
“It’s pretty solid,” said Brown of his commitment level. “Nothing new - I am just keeping pace.”
Brown has already used his official visit to see the Sooners back in September, and has a few destinations in mind for January when the dead period ends. So far the only visits that have been locked in are to Arizona State on January 13 and USC on December 27. The Texas Longhorns are another school jockeying for a visit and have aimed for the weekend of January 20 to get him on campus.
“Yeah they are and I think I might take the visit to Texas that weekend but I am not sure on how that is going to end up,” Brown said. “I would want to check out the atmosphere there and check out the school and what they have to offer.”
The four-star defender was offered by the Longhorns just a few weeks after the hire of new head coach Tom Herman. Since that hire, the Horns have been pushing hard for the flip by letting Brown know how much of a priority he is for them.
“I talked to Derek Warehime and the DB coach there,” said Brown of Texas. “They just have been at it and haven’t stopped. They are saying I am one of their top targets. I was on Facetime the other day with their DB coach and he was just checking in. They are really high on me.”
Despite leaving the door cracked for other schools, the 5-11, 180-pounder maintains his commitment to Oklahoma remains strong. According to Brown, if a flip somehow was to happen, it would be because another school showed him a “wow” factor.
“I just would have to be amazed or surprised and it would just have to be a good genuine feeling. The only thing that could make me flip would be if my relationship with Oklahoma just suddenly changed or they stopped talking to me, but that hasn’t happened. I am like 90-percent committed,” Brown said.
