As much as we hate losing talented players - having guys go to the NFL early is good for them personally - they get to live their dream.
It is also great for Texas as a program - it means we are back as a Top Flight Contender and that we have great coaching.
How many times did we bitch that our 4 & 5 Star Players got manhandled by Star 3 Star Opponents?
Or the countless times we kept asking why aren't our top recruits getting better?
Now not only are our 4 & 5 Star Players whipping 3 Star Players they are doing the same against equal 4 & 5 Star Talent.
Better yet, our coaches are taking 3 Star Talent and actually coaching them up!
For instance:
Taffe - was a "Walk-On" that will get a chance at the NFL was a multi-year starter with higher-rated talent at his position.
Sweat - was a 3 Star and now and NFL Star
Murphy - see above - same as Sweat
Helm - low ranked 4 Star - arguably best Complete TE since David Thomas on the 05 NC Team
Brooks - see above - like Helm & now playing in the League
Jones - was a 3 Star DT that is in The League as an OT
Sorrell - Low 3 Star - will play in NFL
Be happy for these young men - they are getting to live their dream!
And look on the bright-side, every time we put another guy in the NFL that was a 3 Star or we have 4 & 5 Star players leave early because they will get drafted in the first 3 rounds...
Well that just makes some other 3 Star kid that believes in himself and that if he can get the right coaching he can do the same.
Moreover, it makes more 4 & 5 Star Players want to sign with Texas because they know they will get developed into very-high draft choices.
Bottom line losing guys early is part of the process and a key ingredient of getting to the "Top of The Mountain" in College Football.
We're past the base camp, currently sitting on the summit, and the peak is only a season at most two away IMO.
Welcome back to Big-Time College Football Longhorn Nation!
