Texas football coach Tom Herman said defensive lineman Malcolm Roach (sprained toe) was back at practice on Monday. Meanwhile, running back Kyle Porter (shoulder) participated in the non-contact portion of practice. Herman said Porter did a lot of scout work on Monday.

In addition, Herman said quarterback Shane Buechele is running with the ones, but added a caveat.

"As of today, Shane's starting," Herman said. "Now, does that guarantee that he'll start against Maryland? No. But, he'll talk the bulk of the ones reps. If he doesn't take advantage of them, Sam [Ehlinger] plays better than him, then that'll change. As of now, Shane is getting the bulk of the one reps, but Sam will continue to do that. Sam's playing good, and Shane is, too. It's a good battle, but you can tell Shane's played 12 games of college football."

In addition, Tristian Nickelson is currently the top right tackle. However, Herman said if I game had to be played today, Denzel Okafor would rotate with Nickelson at that position.

Lastly, Herman said John Burt is currently running with the ones.

I will provide two more from today's press conference once I get home in front of the laptop.
