The University of Texas said linebacker Malik Jefferson has a minor turf toe injury and has not been participating in practice. He has been "fighting through minor turf toe the last few weeks of the season," according to UT. We previously reported Jefferson was not participating in practice due to a foot injury and is not expected to play in Texas' bowl game.
When asked if Jefferson would play in the bowl game during a conference call on Sunday night, Herman said he was unsure what the linebacker's plan was.
Texas linebacker Gary Johnson is expected to fill in for Jefferson during practice this month and the Texas Bowl.
