Watching that 2003 Cotton Bowl made me think of other great games that weren't necessarily of Earth-shattering importance but so.much fun.

What happened here was just out of nowhere and enjoyable. The crowd was just getting whipped into a frenzy.

That’s a great suggestion.

Going to college from 10-14 was not ideal for me on a “fun” attending scale. The only fun ones were the big ones and most of them were losses. West Virginia. Cal.

I wasn’t there but would 2010 Nebraska count? I enjoyed that on tv even though that season was a nightmare.

If 2008 Mizzou doesn't count as a huge game, then that's my pick. That game was one of the most fun times in DKR I've ever had.

2007 KSU was fun as hell too, even though we lost. Pouring rain. The Eyes of Texas played at halftime to pump up the students. It was awesome.

2009 Tech was also a blast because Sergio Kindle went ham on Tech's QB.

When I was a kid growing up in Angleton in the 60's and 70's Rice and LSU used to play each other every year. Back then Rice Stadium was probably the best stadium going in this part of the country for sight lines and had even hosted a recent Super Bowl and many Oiler football games.

My dad went to UT and we were avid Longhorn fans but we always went to the LSU-Rice game when it was at Rice Stadium. Those Coon-asses were a lot of fun.

08 Missouri was the loudest DKR has been. What an ass kicking. Morons herbie thought chase Daniel was going to beat us.

In the spirit of non-huge, I’ll offer the 87 Bluebonnet Bowl. Me and 20,000 +/- watched Stafford-to-Jones kick Pitt’s ass and briefly gave us hope that David McWilliams was the man.

I loved the Cotton Bowl with Ricky and Miss St as the opponent. We rolled them and serenaded Sherrill with a rendition of Pooooor Aggies changed to Pooooooor Jackie!

F’n loved that. And you know we got to him with it. :)
Was coming to post this. Ricky knocking that one guy out going into the endzone was epic. I just remember how frigid it was, and how obnoxious those damn cowbells were. It was New Years Eve and we spent the night in the hotel room so I had a handle of Beam. Got my underage brother so drunk he was sick the entire game and finally went apeshit on some Miss. St. fans ringing their bells like idiots.

Super random but the 78 game between the Horns and arky in Austin. Super fun game to watch. Agree with the 99 Cotton Bowl against MissSt...total asswhipping. 73 Cotton Bowl Texas vs Bama. Royal called his team average as a day’s wash at the beginning of the season. I still remember Alan Lowry’s run down the sideline (foot in or out?) and my friend Randy Braband’s stop on 4th and short yardage to seal the win.

We lost the game but the Holiday Bowl vs. Oregon. I felt like this was the game that brought us back to national prominence at the time. Simms vs. Harrington. Our fab 3 at receiver and the kickoff return by Victor Ike. If Hodges Mitchell doesn't get hurt we win the game handily, and still should have if not for a dropped pass. Old Qualcomm. Got lucky and sat next to some random hottie Horn fan who lived in LA. Hanging out in the Gaslamp was tons of fun.

Also the Alamo Bowl vs. Iowa. Talking shit with their fans. Colt to Jamaal wheel route. Aaron Ross pick. Random, but the star of Murderball, who Rome had just done a story on, was in SA and came down to the Riverwalk to party. His crew ditched him, and he hung out with us and got hammered and was obnoxiously hitting on my girlfriend and my brother's fiance'. Good times. He later e-mailed me to apologize.
