My Observations after re-watching the ND game

Just wait until Swoopes comes in on a short yardage situation causing the defense to overload the box goal line style. Swoopes steps back and heaves it to a streaking 4.3 WR!

Just sayin.....we have a couple receivers that are tall enough and fast enough to catch up to his deep ball, maybe. Haha!

I get it, but Notre Dame was vanilla on defense as well

That is the whole purpose of the uptempo veer and shoot. It doesn't allow defenses to disguise what they are doing thus making the reads very easy.

Veer is high risk, high reward. But making reads are 1,2,3 easy.

Agreed. Now you will have coaches having players faking injuries to slow things down a bit as well. Tempo was fantastic in the Notre Dame game. It does keep a defense on its heels if run properly. It can also put the defense in a bad spot if not done well. Kingsbury did it perfectly when at A&M with Johnny and defenses would never even get set half the time. It's deadly and frustrating to play against if it is done right. Now, our tempo or lack there of sucks.

From what I know about ol' Giblet, I have complete faith in the young man. This offense is going to be fun for years to come and then he's going to get a HC job. (sad face)

I don't think that's the play. We need easier routes for Swoopes in the 18 wheeler. The jump pass that Tebow did was deadly. Take a step towards the line, and the linebackers are forced to commit hard. The slant will be wide open in the vacated middle.

I like this comparison. A lot. Florida did OK with the Chris Leak/Tim Tebow combo that year. And you're right, Tebow's jump pass was a logical extension of his power running.

You're right on the money. My post was a bad attempt at humor but the 18wheeler package needs to have a few surprises which it probably does. If not, there isn't much guessing what the play is when he's behind center.

when you run the same play over and over....because it works over and over...you are way ahead of the game. It does not need to be tricked out. ...but if you did trick it out....

I think we add a bit of both... when they stack the box against the 18 wheeler, the DBs are forced into 1 on 1s with no safety help. We have several burners who no one will want to cover 1 on 1 on a deep ball. Plus the go route is an easy read and low risk throw.

We can also add some short throws on slants or TEs releasing. Give Tyrone one read to make and he'll do fine.
