Sark should be starting up soon. I'll post live notes once he gets going.

Feels the same way he did after the game. Proud of the effort. Team played hard, played tough. Fought through some adversity against a really good team. Fought like crazy, felt like they ran out of time. In the end, as hard as they fought, as physical as they were, there's still plenty to clean up. Have to continue to strive to improve individually and collectively.

When you get in the red zone 5 times and only get 1 TD, that's pretty dramatic. That stung. Was proud of the offense taking care of the ball, not getting any turnovers. On the flipside, they didn't get any turnovers. Have to continue to attack the ball defensively.

Thanks to the fans. What an unbelievable atmosphere at DKR. THe energy, the feel, the vibe, for an 11 a.m. kick, can't wait to see what they're going to look like Saturday night at 7 p.m. As they feel a sense of the program moving in the right direction, thinks the fans feel it too.

Great opponent this week. Traylor has done a heck of a job at UTSA. Well coached, play really hard in all three phases. Dynamic QB that can make plays with his arm and legs. Big challenge ahead of them.

Injuries that they don't know. All guys are day to day ... Quinn, Bijan, Hudson, Jamison. They'll monitor them every morning to see where they're at. The good thing, nothing structural. Nothing broken, no ligament damage. Just have to monitor day to day and see when they can get them back.

On first-team QB snaps ... Not answering that, keeping it private.

On playcalling when Card was limping ... That's part of coaching, being a playcaller. Their job is to put players in the best position to be successful. Depending on the personnel, skill set of the players, try to put them in the best position. You always have a game plan that you want to operate within. You always have contingency planning if the game plan doesn't work, and contingency plan for injuries. Nobody likes QB injuries, but that's football.

On Hudson Card battling through injury, including running on a hurt ankle ... Was huge for their locker room. A few weeks ago, they named Ewers the starter. Althouh Ewers was the starter, Card was still on leadership team. Great players, great person, great leader. When something like that occurs, you see him get put into the fire, get injured, give them a chance to win the ball game with some big plays, that's inspiring to everybody. Not just him ... a lot of players giving all they had from cramps, to stingers, to shoulders. Thinks Hudson was a prime example of the bond this team has, the chemistry this team has, willingness to do it together.

On his meeting with coach Saban midfield ... Thinks Saban respected the product Texas put on the field. As a coach, you want to earn the respect of your opponent. Naturally, as a guy who worked under Saban, he's hopeful when they shook hands, he's respectful of the way Texas played the game.

On if Charles Wright would have gone in if Hudson couldn't have played last week ... Charles was next man up last week. He was ready to go if need be. WRight has made leaps and bounds from his time last year to where he is today. Has a good grasp of offense, understanding of things. Very accurate, much more confident.

On Daniel Trejo ... After his first punt, really hits the ball well. Thought he and Will Stone in the kicking game in punts and kickoffs helped control field position. Met their goals there, hopefully they can continue to grow on that.

On Maalik Murphy ... He's not healthy.

On the defense and tackling ... Missed a few. But what stood out, effort was good, populating the ball, so when they missed, there was another man there to clean up the mess. Have to give fanatical effort on defense. Next phase, have to start creating turnovers. Thought their situational awareness in the game was goo overall. Some things they recognized and handled pretty well, like the punt and pinning it on the 1, the drive at the end of the first half that gave them a chance to score.

On if the upsets last week will be a message to his team ... Everybody saw it. The easy thing for them, they have a great deal of respect for UTSA. Can't speak for the teams that lost last weekend, but if you turn on the tape of UTSA they get your respect very quickly. Lots of success last season, two tough games this year. They have UT's attention, Texas has to be ready to go.

On the red zone struggles ... Variety of things. A couple missed opportunities. Would have liked to have called it a little better than he did. And Bama made some plays. Texas needs to execute better, but Bama made some plays. They pride themselves on red zone executing. Were great on it last year, really good last week, Saturday they went 1-for-5. That's the difference in the game. Have to do a lot of things better down there. Exectution has to be at another level, he has to call the best stuff and you have to be able to make plays on 50/50 balls and tough blocks.

On what he likes about Card and how different the offense is when he's out there ... Hudson has a great command of the offense. He has great mobility. What they saw this past weekend, has a real knack for throwing the intermediate ball, made a couple good deep ball throws on Saturday. He took his shots, made some intermediate throws, but legs are one thing that are different b/c he has the ability to run.

On having a place where the crowd is roudy ... Part of the pageantry of college football is the home field advantage. That's one of the unique things they have. They get 7 games at DKR this year, have 5 more chances. Need to maximize the opportunities to come together as Longhorn nation. That atmosphere last week was raucous, that's the way he wants it. They critique effort first, feels like it's the same way for the fans. Half the people didn't sit down the entire game. Felt like they were one with their fans. As they continue to grow as a program, hopefully the fan base continues to grow with them, make DKR one of the more difficult places to play in the country.

On Saban's comments about Texas being in the top half of the SEC right now ... Got to be careful of the rat poison, to quote Saban. A week ago, people saying how bad Texas was, now everybody telling them how good they are. SEC has some great environments. Naturally there are certain games the build up feels different than others, felt that way on Saturday. Very physical football game, felt that way with the investment from the fans and it coming down to the last second.

On standout players on defense ... A few guys up front stood out. Moro Ojomo, Coburn and B Murphy all had really good games. Thought Ryan Watts had a good game on defense and special teams. Jerin Thompson played really well in the game. Thought Jaylan Ford had an impact after he settled in. Lots of positive performances on the defensive side of the ball. Told the team they've created a new standard of what's acceptable. Now they have to meet that standard and exceed that. Now is not the time to step back.

On the importance of building depth after a week like this ... That's the value of recruiting, the value of practicing the way they do in training camp where they split the team onto two sides of the film so everybody is getting work. It's mightily important to build depth. Prime example last week was Austin Jordan. Jamison out, Watts had to come out for a bit an Austin Jordan was in for about 15 snaps, played well, tackled. You never know when your number is going to get called.

On Roschon in the wild cat role ... THat role is comfortable for him being a high school quarterback. Roschon is a unique person. Whatever's asked of him, he's going to do. But he's more than equipped to handle the things they ask him to do in the wild cat. They don't major in it, but the idea that they can get to it is helpful for their team.

On the defense ... They're preparing, practicing better than they ever have, communicating better than they ever have. On the potential safety, they had to change the call. All that stuff adds up, then ultimately it's the effort. You can see DL running to the football, safeties taking good angles. All those things adding up to good play on the field.

On how difficult it is to make sure the team puts the Bama game in the past ... He addressed it. he's getting the calls, texts too saying how great they looked. Well thanks, but they have work to do to improve. Better never rests. Have to continue to strive to get better. When you let that noise in, that can creat clutter. Have to make sure that noise is outside of their building and not inside, focus on the task at hand.

On UTSA's QB ... Frank Harris is a dual threat, can get the ball out quickly in RPO game. Does a good job of giving his WRs a chance to make plays down the field, can make plays with his legs. Texas struggled with that in the fourth quarter last week, have to do a better job with their rush lanes and things. Boundary safety for UTSA is a four-year starter, can run, has great leadership and guys feed off him.

On how difficult it is to prepare without knowing who your QB is ... They have good coaches on offense. They'll put together a plan that's conducive to the guys that they may have.

On the decision on the safety ... The rule was they can't review it, so it is what it is.

That's it for today.
