We shoulda let Bevo have his way and then turn him loose on the AP people, beat Georgia and then they ahead of us, somebodies smoking dope!

https://collegefootball.ap.org/poll

I tell ya , you need to keep kicking the shit outa the other team till the last whistle, we didn't whip their ass hard enough, them last 2 TD's was what did it, we played like Champs, but, we let them come back and thats what got us...

You would have expected to be ahead of a team you just beat...did we really win or did Georgia at the end after the polls came out?

I would have expected some voters to see it that way and others to put more emphasis on the whole season, which is what happened. Georgia didn’t have a bad loss like we did (Maryland), and they finished with a better record.

When you finish in the top 10 with four losses, there’s not much room to complain.

For a little perspective: Only four teams in the 83-year history of the AP poll have finished in the top 10 with four losses -- 1977 Washington, 1992 Florida, 2017 Auburn, and 2018 Texas. None of the other three finished as high as Texas, as all were ranked No. 10.

Like I said, not much room to complain.

FBH didn't you vote us with a losing season this year? You're upset that we're #9 in a season poll that really doesn't matter at the end of the day but you were so negative about this season that you thought we wouldn't even make it to a bowl.

Ya'll settle for eating wieners and beans when you can eat steak, with our loses we did good, better than I expected, but, we wound up in a good spot thanks to other teams misfortunes and fortunes, we had a lotta good games, but, look at how we got to the Sugar Bowl, would you not have rather won some more of the ones we dropped? we got our ass doomed by that Maryland game a little I think and losing to OU in the Big 12 didn't help either or WV, when we had 2 of them put away and let them come back, maybe we woulda be siting better, we damn sure not getting any Style points..

I am glad to be where we are..but, you coulda been better as we had the better team all yr, its the 4 th that always got us

What did it look to you after Maryland game and WV? I always thought when ya get beat you drop clean off the board, we beat ou, then they drop 2 places and come out ahead after 2 weeks, I think you should drop off if ya lose and work to get back up, maybe then we would have some teams other than Bama and Clemson win every year after yr, In SWC when you dropped that was it!

It's the program's first 10-win season and top-10 finish in nine years and the first major bowl win in ten years. Yes, the team had flaws, but Jesus Christ, just be happy we're finally trending in the right direction after almost a decade of pure sh*t.

If Herman doesn't build on this, then by all means, crap all over him, but for now how about just appreciating a season unlike any we've had in a long time?

Glad to see aggie moving up 5 spots after beating that NC State powerhouse. Hopefully they get a trophy for that.
Losses to #1 and #2.....wins over #6 and #12..... other losses to 8-5 bowl teams....16 seems like a fair final ranking.

Did you really just justify your ranking with losses to alley and Clemson? What’s your point of putting those losses in there?

I ain't gonna crap on him, he's doing the best he can,, as far as the 10 yrs thing, well, we know who to blame for that and it ain't Herman...I think he will do better next yr, maybe we will be eating steak

Is this really a question? Who is justifying anything? Rankings are based upon the eye test and strength of schedule. When you lose a game, it kinda matters who it's against.

Yeah those are win-losses. Lol. Only aggy losers could come up with such pitiful bs.
And how would you suggest determining final rankings? Would you consider a loss to Clemson to be equal to a loss to Maryland?

I would suggest not mentioning those losses every 5 seconds as if they were wins. You lost. But you were the third best 4-loss team so congrats. Moral trophy.

I would also count who you beat. Quality losses are the most aggy thing ever.

Everyone should look at rankings 3 - 8 and tell me which of those 6 teams Texas could not beat? Texas doesn't deserve a top 4 ranking because they didn't earn it, but I'd take Texas over everyone from 3 to 8.

The original post is about final rankings, and I was responding to a comment about A&M's ranking. If you are going to try and rank teams you have to look at their body of work, and wins and losses have values attached. Sorry to offend your sensibilities.

Regarding Texas....I think 9 is fair for the season, but honestly I think they beat 5-7 if played today.

I’m freaking tickled to death to be #9. You could sense something different about this team in the bowl game against Missouri last season. There were some bumps in the road this year, but that was the team that showed up in just about every game this season. Herman is making huge strides. He may seem to overthink things in game situations on occasion, but his intelligence is paying off big picture with the moves he makes with staff and player personnel/development. I’m excited.

I love what Herman has done, but there's one crucial thing he's gotta get through his hard head for us to take the next step. We've obviously got playing as the underdog down. Nobody does it better.

However, we have got to learn to play as the favorite if we're going to play for championships. We have to put teams away that we're supposed to beat. None of this get a two TD lead on Kansas and sit on it bullshit. Stomp on their f*cking throats, and make their siblings watch. That's the killer instinct he's got to learn.

That being said, Sugar Bowl champs and #9 ranking only two years removed from 5 and 7...oh hell yeah I'll take it!

When we can run the ball consistently with our 2's, we will stomp teams again.

Correct. Or even run consistently with our ones. His whole game plan is to get a lead and run the clock out. That's great, if you didn't go three n out almost every time you tried it. When you can't run, it kinda makes that strategy a bit ridiculous.

I do believe that's coming, though. When he gets his line beefed up the way he wants, and gets a stud RB like a beefed up Ingram, or Evans in the future, his game plan will work great. We will run the ball right down the field and keep scoring.

Just wish he'd stop being so hard headed about that game plan until we get to the point where it'll actually work.

Would you consider a win against ULM or Northwestern st high school as equal to a Tulsa or USC win?

I was always taught that a "Loss" is a "Loss" no matter if its a single point or 50pts......we didnt hand out "participation" trophies if you kept it close.
