I'm headed to Mobile tomorrow to spend the week as usual at the Senior Bowl. I'll have a write-up from the event like last year and check in on the board with anything interesting I hear.
No Longhorns players are scheduled to take part in the event for the first time since I've covered it, but there will be players from numerous other Big 12 teams as well as scouts, coaches and reps from all 32 NFL teams - a who's who of general football-industry folks. It's the unofficial NFL annual conference.
It will be my fifth year covering the event professionally and an early look at the roster shows that it's clearly an "up"-year for talent (as it has been incrementally since Phil Savage took over as director), but this is certainly the first year where we'll have a QB coming in with Top 10 buzz in Carson Wentz with at least 15-20 participants already being thought of as possible first-rounders. The Cowboys (NORTH) and Jaguars (SOUTH) coaching staffs will be the coaches. (North and South are not significant geographically for the players, they are just the names of the teams.)
Please let me know ITT anything you'd like me to ask any prospects or coaches, scouts etc. as it pertains to Texas or your favorite NFL team, etc. I'll do my best to sniff around for whatever info I can for the community while in Mobile.
