Offensively Challenged

Well how is Tcu or okie light able to recruit hitters but we can't? And they have also had some stud pitchers. Same thing could be said for vandy and Virginia. Vandy came out of the wood work and Virginia always has good teams and finally was able to bring it home. What are these schools offering that we aren't? We have plenty of hardware to back us.

Quite a few comments on here about UT owing Augie something for past coaching wins . . . this type of thinking absolutely drives me nuts. Is any employee in any field retained because of what they've done in the past? Hell no . . . people have jobs because of what their employers believe they're going to do in the future. If you think someone is going to be a failure in the future you fire them regardless of their past successes.

Case in point: I knew a gal that was a top 10 global salesperson for Oracle back in the early 2000's. She made Larry a lot of money. The next year she didn't hit her sales goals and Oracle shit canned her without so much as a pat on the back. I personally don't believe Augie will lead the Horns back to greatness. He looks old and tired to me. So put me in the camp that says "can his ass". We need some high energy, young guy in there that the kids can relate to.

My 2 cents.

Nope, I wanted Mack gone and Barnes too. At UT, we should expect to be in the national conversation in all 3 sports. Charlie is getting us back there . . . Shaka already has the hoops team back there . . . Augie doesn't and won't get us there again. Time to move on to a new guy.

I love Augie, but this low to no scoring crap is beyond old. We've seen this for how many years now? It just isn't working. I agree with Clob about how Texas recruits, but they way Augie is doing things isn't working. He either needs to change how/who he recruits or it's time for a new baseball coach.
It's been time for a new coach for quite awhile

It's the coach's job to recruit and develop players who will win games with good in-game coaching. If the players aren't getting it done over time -- especially in a program that has long been under the total control of the current HC -- then that is on the coach. Augie had a great run here (and elsewhere), but his times have mostly failed to deliver for years now, and the buck stops with him. He has had ample time to diagnose and address the problems that are preventing the program from performing at an elite level.
lol ya when youre losing everything goes on the coach. Didnt one of augies less talented team go to the CWS just two years ago??? how soon we forget LOL.

Thanks for stopping by. Now crawl back under your rock.

Texas loses the first game to Tulane 3-2 to fall to 7-11 on the season.

Tulane puts up three runs in the top of the 1st to lead Texas 3-0 in the second game.

Thanks for everything, Augie, but kindly GTFO.

I just don't get it. Why can't Augie recruit kids who can hit the effin baseball? I know we scored 9 runs in 1 game against Stanford, but that was an aberration. One run yesterday....no runs on 2 measly hits through 5 today. Already down 4-0. How long has it been since we had a Longhorn baseball team that wasn't offensively challenged? Back to the Jeff Ontiveros days?
Maybe he grew up a fan of the 'stros? That would be pre-Killer-Bs era, obviously.

Yes, great series win. However, after taking the first two games, a 3-0 sweep would have been incredible today. On to 0U next weekend.

Hookem!

And Texas follows up the big-time series win over TCU with all of 2 runs in a 4-2 loss to the mighty Lamar Cardinals of Beaumont.

Lamar is ranked 45 spots above Texas in RPI, so I guess this really shouldn't be a surprise.

I still cannot comprehend how this baseball program can't hit the ball and score runs. This has been going on for at least four years now. How the hell do you lose to freaking Lamar at home??
It's the great mystery of our time, MM, that our hitters consistently make weak contact or no contact.

One of my all-time favorite players was Nick Peoples. That guy exemplified Texas baseball. He left every ounce of his heart and soul out on the field. We need the Nick Peoples types on this team!

I agree. And a little Jeff Ontiveros wouldn't hurt.

Also, Chance Wheeless, Scott Bryant, Calvin Murray, Brooks Kieschnick, Kyle Russell, Taylor Teagarden, etc. Sadly, we don't have those types of players anymore. Have you noticed that most of the players seem to be of the same 5' 11" 180 lb. type of mold? The lack of offense, going on years now, is mind boggling and inexcusable. Not sure if the hitting coaches are screwing with kids mechanics, stance, God-given skills, or what, but something isn't right.

Amen!

You say so many great players but you forget about one of the biggest ones David Maroul. How can you forget about this guy?! The 2005 college world series most outstanding player!

This is a freshman pitcher from The Woodlands in just his sixth career start that's dominating Texas, by the way.

I see we've already notched our obligatory pair of errors tonight.

Its just getting ridiculous with so much pitching talent we have....somebody needs to step up and grow some because it makes for a very long season....

Texas is known for pitching talent year in and year out, but it'd be nice to see Augie and Co. focus on some hitting talent as well. It is unacceptable that his teams year after year cannot produce enough runs to win games.

Reminds ya of having to build the FB team all over again doesn't it? With all these young players, I really think that Augies playing with what he has, you can't make a young man a Vet in 2 seasons and BB players are not what they used to be either

Hook'em

Texas falls to f*cking 12-16 after dropping two of three to a terrible OU team. The TCU series was just an anomaly after all rather than a sign of things to come.

BBR, all you can do is shake your head...and with you had a Neuralyzer! This team has so many flaws...lack of clutch hitting with MISP (Rand's hit today notwithstanding)...inability to put the ball in play (too many Ks...12 today)...Keystone Kops in the field (c'mon Kacy, catch the effin ball!)...
