Official Bowl Game thread

At the beginning we all would of been happy with either outcome. But since we are here, f#^* a sooner!

I will say that the thought has crossed my mind that if OU happens to win, Riley May try to justify to himself and the fans that Ruffin has ‘earned’ the right to stay on as DC. He made a comment yesterday when asked about the defense or the DC position and he commented that we’re undefeated since the Texas game. Uh, hopefully it was just coach speak and not the Tech/Stoops blind loyalty thing presenting itself.

So here's how it lays out:

Beat OU and we are headed to the Sugar. Lose and we are headed to the Alamo. So it's Nola or SA.
I think it's Sugar or Sugar.

OU wins and they make playoffs and we still go to Sugar.

I think they get in over OSU.

Which presents the quandary of playing with the pressure of producing "style" points. They are going into this game thinking they need to win by a significant amount to get into the playoff over tosu.

yep.... I shouldve put a big IF in my first post. I still think we win this game!

I think Kyler pushes so hard to "avenge" his only loss that he makes a couple of bad mistakes pushing it. He's never been in this position before!

Texas 42-38

But since I said that he will throw for 700 yds, run for 300 and still be scoring on us next week..............

What are the NY6?

Rose - Michigan vs. Washington
Sugar - Texas vs. Georgia
Fiesta - Oklahoma vs. Central Florida
Peach - Florida vs. Washington State

CFP

Cotton - Alabama vs. Ohio State
Orange - Clemson vs. Notre Dame
Is it weird that I don't hate that match up? I haven't seen Georgia play a ton this year, and obviously they are very talented, but I would much rather play them than UCF. Hear me out on this...

If we play UCF and win, well of course we are supposed to win we are Texas and they are UCF. If we lose, we lost to a talented team, but nonetheless its UCF.

Now Georgia...if we beat Georgia, we put a rather large dagger into the SEC!SEC!SEC mantra, and if we lose to Georgia, we lost to a top tier team who is 1 year removed from playing in the National Championship game.

Georgia got rolled by an LSU team that the consensus of this board deems awful. Not sure how good they really are....guess we may find out this weekend.

I think they are pretty much just like us. Good enough to compete with anyone then has complete brain dumps in the most inopportune times. We're like a box of chocolates, you never know.......

UCF lost their star QB.

I know it comes with an asterisk, but a Sugar Bowl win is great for recruiting.

I think it could still be the Sugar bowl even if lose as long as they stay ranked ahead of West Virginia in CFPP. As just released Texas is 14 and WVU 16.

Nope. Nope. Nopety nope nope. I'd bet you a buffalo nickel.

Assuming okie makes the playoff. Doesn't the next best big12 team get sugar bowl guaranteed? Or do they have to be top 12 for the guarantee to hold?

I think the biggest risk is Ohio State or a second SEC team knocking OU out of the playoffs. Unless you are required to be a certain rank for sugar to take you.

Another reason to play Georgia over UCF is their give a shit level. UCF will see it as the national championship game and Georgia may or may not even want to be there. Of course, if Georgia is motivated, there is a much better chance of it going really bad.

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking. I'm not certain that FL would get in over LSU but that's all.

Just one thing Sam Ehlinger is better than Jake Fromm. And the last time they played a spread offense they gave up 45 points.

Here's a hilarious scenario. What if tOSU and OK both lose this Saturday? It might take a week before they decide on the 4th team lol

I know I've already posted this but what if tOSU and OK both win. Dyk that OK and tOSU's ad's are both on the pc? Think about that for a minute. I'd love to witness that vote.

Speaking of my hometown Alamo Bowl. If UT loses to WA I think they will represent the Pac XII in the AB against ISU. That would be a good matchup.

I was under the impression that the Big 12 is slotted for the Sugar Bowl, but I think that spot would go to West Virginia.

My goodness...they'd have to decide between a bunch of 2 loss teams or UCF (assuming they win)

So based on what I'm reading, Texas is almost guaranteed the Sugar bowl win or lose, am I reading this correctly?

But, but, but, Florida is in the mighty SEC, SEC, SEC!!
That would be the much better matchup. I honestly think you guys would have a solid chance against Florida. Might even have a chance against Georgia if they are pouting about the playoffs. Love your 2 big receivers, who will cause anybody problems. Don't think you can roll out a 3 man DL vs either and expect to stop the run.
