If Strong translates this to wins he will lock down the state for years to come. I also think on rhe locks down the state he will expand the recruiting base.
Lots of the reporters are using phrases like "completes the class" and "wraps things up" when talking about Elliot's commitment. Sounds like if there are 2 more coming it's going to really surprise a lot of people, regardless of who they are. I guess no one has any real clue on this...?

define "knew". I was cautiously optimistic, but still had a skeptical eye on all this "silent commit" talk. I'm surprised it was this good. Thought we'd end up with 22 or so guys and a top 15 class. What actually happened is better than I could have imagined.
Yeah, I'm happy with the class for sure. I'm just wondering if I can actually do other things yet.

I am gonna go ahead and play along with this idea that there are 2 more guys out there we are getting. So below is a list of guys we are targeting who have not signed LOI's at this time. List in NOT comprehensive, and please feel free to reply with other names:

What actually happened is exactly what the most connected guy in Texas recruiting said would happen. That's what I mean by "knew."

See this is where it gets ridiculous. I will take my lumps when necessary, but read on in that post. One guys blamed Spav and most of the others replied that this is far bigger than Spav. EVERY school goes into meltdown mode. I'm shocked this board survived the last 2 seasons as bad as you guys wanted Charlie fired. Now you are in love with him again and he still hasn't done anything on the field but get worse. You guys had a great class, and it is always the right thing to give a coach time to get HIS kids in to see what they can do for him. Congrats on your class. Next year is a big year for Charlie to see if he can coach.

yea, kind of what I thought. If the grey shirt rumor is real it will be interesting to see what the kid does. Grey shirting should be completely removed from CFB.
If Sumlin and Charlie did not have such huge buyouts and we would have lost to Baylor then we would have a new coach now. I have no doubt with that plus this board has survived since the downfall in 2010 so we will be fine.
I mean, I know that Coach Strong offered Merrick that way (before we ended up with a scholarship to give him anyway) but in that situation, at least as I understand it, Merrick knew that well before signing day and still wanted a chance to go to UT. It seems kind of hard to believe that it wouldn't be a major point brought up for recruiting rivals against Saban if he is springing that kind of thing on recruits at the last second...

I would be pretty pissed off if I was Smith and they tried to pull that with me on NSD.
I think that is the key. If it is discussed with a recruit and they come to a mutual agreement then I guess it can work. I think they had that worked out a few months before signing day. For it to happen a few hours before you sign the paper is completely out of line. Recruiting is a nasty business though. Coaches pull the grey shirt hours before you sign, kids decommit hours before they sign. OC's get fired right after everybody signs. It is what it is.
