***OFFICIAL TEXAS vs the Basketball school*** game thread

439 yards rushing.

Not fvcking bad.

That hasn't happened too many times in the last 30 years.

Quiz-

What year and what was the total of the most rushing yards in a single game in UT history?

Think hard.

Nah. Too much money for a back that isn't designed to run between the tackles. He's late late 1st at BEST, and that's if he shows out at the combine. He'll walk into next season as the Heisman favorite. If he goes out and puts 2k up and 18-20 TDs-- THEN he will be a top 10 pick.
Mel Kiper has Bijan as the #7 pick in his mock draft, McShay has him as #8 pick. Those guys are pretty well connected in the NFL circles.

At this point, unless Bijan has a disastrous combine/pro day, I think he’s pretty much a lock to be a top ten pick.

NFL teams are moving away from paying franchise money for running backs. It’s just different now. They won’t invest a 1st round pick on a player they know won’t be with them for more than 3-4 years.

Quality running backs can be had between rounds 2-4.

I’ll be interested to see what Texas does in the portal in the off-season. I feel like a lot of the guys we went after last year that we didn’t get we lost in large part because we were 5-7 last year. This off-season the vibe is different. Think you are going to see some difference makers coming to Texas.

I hear what you’re saying, but they said the same thing before Zeke, and he was drafted top ten. I know Kiper and Mcshay aren’t always 100% accurate, but they both have Bijan going top ten. I trust them.

There will never be another RB that goes in the top 10 anymore. That’s just not todays game. Coming back for another year won’t do anything to his draft stock. He is what he is at this point.

RBs have the shortest careers of any position in the NFL. He’s gone gone this year and will be a late first to early second round pick because of his ability to catch the ball.

The only other back that got drafted that high recently was Saquan and that was a mistake by the Giants. There’s just no positional value there. Najee Harris was one of the best RB prospects of the last 10 years and went late first round 2 years ago.

So why do Kiper and Mcshay both have Bijan going top ten? They’re not aware of the RB bias?

They have him as a top 10 overall prospect because he is. But because of positional value he’ll go late first, early second. Go look at the drafts of the last 10 years and how many RBs have went top 10. There’s not many at all. It’s a passing league now.

I’ll gladly eat crow if he goes in the top 10 but I would bet a lot of money he doesn’t. I wouldn’t be surprised if he slides to the 2nd round.

Just saw that Todd Mcshay projected him to go #8 in the first round. Maybe a UT booster can make it worth his while to stay another year :)
what a big booster can't dude is add a year to his nflpa enrollment. they're always one play away-- you only get so many bumps on your bump card. i have a buddy that came one year short of getting the lifetime benefits (pension yes, but most importantly the health insurance) and he said he fought like mad to get to that last year he needed-- it's that important. so, all that said, a well-intentioned advisor would direct him to the league asap.

Strategy for RBs that are really good is to take at the end of the first round. That way you can get them on a rookie deal for 5 years and then possibly tag them twice so you get them for 7 years if you want them. I don't think someone with Bijan's size and skill set will make it out of the first round.
