The Under Armour All-America game starts in less than 30 minutes (11 a.m. CST on ESPN2).
RB Devwah Whaley will announce pre-game.
OL Jean Delance will announce at halftime.
I've done some checking this morning and here's what I've got ...
The people most-closely involved in Whaley's situation still do not know for certain how this thing is going to fall. Whaley has not told Texas anything of his decision (he did tell me in Orlando that the college coaches wouldn't find out until he announced on television).
However, one person who I just spoke with said he feels it's trending Arkansas' way, but Whaley does still want to visit Texas on January 15. So even if it winds up being the Razorbacks, Texas will have a chance to sway Whaley.
A note worth mentioning ... when I spoke with Whaley in Orlando, he didn't know much about Sterlin Gilbert of what UT's offense would be like moving forward. That was a bit of a red flag to me. You'd think if it was going to be Texas, he'd have done a bunch of homework to know more about the offensive scheme.
One person I talked to today said UT assistants Tommie Robinson, Chris Vaughn and Vance Bedford have been in touch with Whaley of late. So has Charlie Strong. However, Gilbert has been unable to connect with Whaley despite reaching out a few times. Another red flag.
Bottom line ... there's conflicting info on this one and I don't believe anyone truly KNOWS what's going to happen. But in reading the tea leaves, I'm now leaning towards an Arkansas commit with Texas still having a good chance to get Whaley on campus the weekend of January 15.
Tough one to predict.
On Delance, Texas is confident. Michigan was confident. I've leaned Texas all along and it's trending more UT's direction of late. I like Texas' chances on that one.
