As a cop you can't stop shit like this from going down, all he can do is advise his friend to do the smart thing. Then it's his job to react to ensuing carnage if necessary. You can’t fix stupid, all you do is observe.

I also understand what you're saying, and you're right. But the ginger aggy and company seem to be the type that shat follows no matter what the advise. ETH is a personal friend of the ginger and as a friend has been trying to give him good advice but he seems unable to take it. The brother went to jail for kicking his sweet ride and beating the cheeto dust out of his ass, yet he is not smart enough to leave well enough alone. He continues to contact and engage these people. This is why there are so many "stupid criminal" shows on the tube. ETH probably tryed not to get involved from the jump because his buddy is admittedly guilty of indescent exposure and has tryed to help him make it go away.
