Its been one week since the Iraan Braves defeated Munday in the quarterfinals, and what was supposed to be a night of celebration, turned into a horrible tragedy!!
In the week since, an amazing show of support in West Texas, and all across the state, has emerged for this small town. They are expecting close to 1000 cheerleaders, from across this great state, to be in the stands rooting for the Braves!!
The obvious route from Iraan to Abilene, for their semi final game tonight, would have led them down I-20 right where tragedy struck them a week ago. Instead, the team is on route to Abilene, as I type this, through small towns here in West Texas...
About every 20-30 miles or so, people from these small towns, many rivals of Iraan, are lined up on the highway wearing red and black with signs and cheers for these kids!! It's amazing!! They will stop here in San Angelo for lunch, and I can't wait to see the send off they get here!!
Forgot to mention, police and sherif departments along the way are picking them up, and providing an escort the entire way!!
It's just so amazing to see communities coming together like this!! That's why I love this state!!!
