Look guys, Baylor is going to pay a steep price for this situation and rightfully so. However, in all honesty something like this could happen on any campus in America When one considers
A the win at all cost mentality at most schools
B Out of control boosters
CThe huge amounts of money generated by college sports
D the disregard of character when recruiting players
Situations like the one at Baylor are bound to happen again and I for one am sick of this BS.
I feel steps should be taken to clean up college sports such as
1 the power 5 and the mid-major conferences leave the NCAA and form a new organization with oversight and enforcement powers
2 uniform rule of conduct for all athletes and uniform penalties for rules infractions
3 The appointment of a national panel to oversee disciplinary situations (Kevin Sumlin can't sit JFF for one play because of a DWI and call that disciplining a player)
4 If a player is kicked out of a member school he can't play at any other member school, ever
5. All players have to stay 4 years for football and 2 years for basketball no more one and done or 3 and out.

Your problem starts at point #1. The NCAA is just what you are talking about. The NCAA is an organization, formed by the P5 and mid-major conferences, with oversight and enforcement powers. The problem is that if you let the schools themselves form the organization, as you are suggesting, then the organization is beholden to the schools, just as the NCAA is now. You really think the SEC is going to let the NCAA tell them which players get suspended, or interfere with their network? Of course not. Neither will the other conferences. The only way your suggestions would happen is if the schools all agreed to it, which is the entire problem in the first place.

Real mature
From the guy who uses the term "retard." No hard feelings here jsto - but you better be nice to me. I've been to 11 RRS, and my record is OU 11, UT 0. I'm trying to decide if I want to go this year ...

Point taken topdeck but I want something in place that insures that Jameis Winston doesn't rape a woman and keep playing because FSU,TPD and others covered everything up. I'd also like to see more uniform disciplinary guidelines across the board. I don't care how it gets done but college football needs to clean up.

I understand what you are saying, but it's going to take a lot more for that to happen than what you are suggesting. The problem with the P5/mid-major conferences forming a new organization is that the schools themselves will be running the organization. That's just the inmates running the asylum. The only way the reforms you want will come about is for an outside force to take over college athletics.

Hey you are entitled to your opinion. I don't see saying "you are going full retard here" as being bad. It is a phrase. I was having a conversation, and addressing your crazy ideas.

I hope no one laughs here and uses the phrase "that slayed me", because you just might call the cops and report a murder (oh wait, BU peeps like to cover up murders not report them) ;)

I do see responses like "bite me" as weakness. Someone disagrees with craziness by pointing out facts and the response like that is giving up. One who isn't interested in having a conversation. Like your next comeback is going to be "nanny nanny boo boo you can't catch me". But whatever floats your boat.

One little problem there. Penn St was under sanction. Baylor isn't. The reason Penn St players were allowed to transfer was because of the length of the sanctions, not because of the nature of the scandal.
Valid. NCAA needs to step in here *.

* assuming the NCAA is still a thing.

Man, some people just can't accept a peace offering. No weakness, just "conversation". Mark this day down - I am going to the Red River Shoot Out for the 12th time this year. And when the inevitable results occur, I don't want to hear any blame on Strong, lack of a QB, DT's are a year away, or any other analysis or excuse. The reason will be because I am going, and I am going because JSTO cannot accept a peace offering. Carry on.

Topdeck , that is why I suggested a committee of knowledgeable outsiders to oversee discipline in CFB. FSU, Texas A&M and many others have proven that the schools themselves can't be counted upon to do the right thing when star players are involved in an incident requiting discipline.

I understand that, but you have to have some mechanism for that to happen. How does the committee step in? Under what authority? As it stands now, you can't just set up an outside committee, and make the schools subservient to it.

Agreed, and honestly I don't know the answer to your question but I feel strongly that something needs to happen in wake of the Baylor situation and other similar situations. Perhaps the major conferences could discuss implementing a disciplinary program within the current NCAA framework. I welcome suggestions .

There is an answer, you just won't like it. You have to start running football as an extracurricular activity, instead of a business.
