I gotta agree with FB here. I laughed my ass off what you wrote, clob, but it sounds like something you'd read in Penthouse Letters. =)roll

Well done either way though. :D

Just had my first and last. One small polyp they cauterized. The only reason I did it is because my crooked insurance company wouldn't pay for the cheap mail-in test.

The prep is nonsensical, as mentioned, but the propofol made it almost worth it.

Not to say I'm your resident oncologist here, but polyps do not generally become cancerous and are therefore not
the origin of malignancies.

In other words, the poop in a box is just as good if you're worried about cancer.

Was there a poop in the box test around seven or eight years ago?

If so, I'm really going to be pissed.

Damn Clob. You making this the new hot site on the web. Come here to talk about old guys getting stuff rammed up their ass and you talk about the hot chicks wanting to bang you. Keep it up!

The worst part of mine was drinking that stuff the night before, I thought I was gonna die I shit so much. The procedure itself is a cake walk.
Ya....... When you're asleep.

I did find it funny that toward the end I could take a swig of that lemon flavored colon blow and withing mere moments I was peeing it out of my butthole in the same color and clarity it went down as.

No shame in it! You was trying to catch something you might have before it got worse to where it was too late..that's not Shame , that's being smart. Shame is when a women doctor sticks her gloved finger up your ass and it comes out with a little shit on it, that's shame!

Experience vs hypothetical at play here.

I've got to schedule mine before the end of the year. I have one every three years, and I'm due. I'm close to meeting my insurance deductible, so that helps with the cost.

Fun times getting the oil checked. I'm at that age now to start getting violated but gonna have to wait until after November. Something happened at the VA this last year or two so I no longer have any coverage through tri-care.

Wife and kiddo are on their own separate plan since I didn't need external insurance but I guess I have to buy in to my overpriced company coverage now.
No notifications of being dropped, the hospital informed me when I went in to have a sonogram on a neck lump. So now I have a cyst on my thyroid that will need to be cut out....and no coverage until November enrollment. Anyone here make some good moonshine and is handy with a bucknife?

Dude-- you might be in a pinch. .
Insurance companies are starting to get real antsy about paying for something that was around before they were the carrier. Like REAL antsy.
They aren't "supposed" to call it a pre-existing condition, but they are starting to back bill your previous insurance who made the diagnosis. You need to spend the day on the phone figuring out WTF happened with Tri-care. You're a veteran. They can't drop you. As long as you're making those payments they can not drop you.
Seriously-- call them.

We should all slow our roll on colonoscopy: New study reported in the New England Journal last week showed only an 18-31% reduction in cancer reduction from colonoscopy and NO reduction in cancer death rate. Huge scandinavian study.

I can't get behind that. It saved my grandpas life 20 years ago. Also have an aunt that just got diagnosed with early stages of colon cancer because she got her colonsocopy. If she would have put it off then there's no telling how much worse it could have been had she waited.

Just got my 7th or so (over many years). Worst i ever had was the old "Sigmoid?", not near as long a "tester". They did it awake, not much fun, cramps, etc. Worst "new" one i ever had was when I woke up during the procedure. I was fit to be tied, the nurse starting giving me sh,,,,real condescending. But all in all, had a polop or 2 removed, nothing real serious. The clinic i go to in SA are the best, i always wake up in "a great state of mind", must be some good sedative.

I think he means for low risk people that also have no family history. There are other tests for the low riskers that aren’t as invasive.

Those other tests are nowhere near as effective as getting a colonoscopy. Plus on top of that if you have polyps they can easily be removed during the process.

Brother, trust me when I say we went to hell and back for hours and numerous transfers trying to get it figured out. In short their policies, veteran ratings & coverage lengths have changed and since I did not retire at 20yrs I am basically sol outside of conditions directly service related and tri-care can no longer carry me. Fun times.

So I paid cash for the doc visit & sonogram who then referred me to ENT specialists. I haven't seen the ENT yet due to the lack of coverage. I might be able to get coverage and restart the entire process since none of it was covered and all cash.
Yep, a pinch indeed. Probably cheaper to up my life insurance and let nature take it's course. Doubt I can cover thyroid surgery with cash so we'll see how I feel about it in a month.

Anecdotes don't count. This is real science. Many "preventative" protocols, such as prenatal visits and mammography also don't stand up to large double studies. Basically, to avoid cancer: don't smoke, drink, or get fat. To avoid breast cancer. girls should have a child relatively young and nurse it.
