Hey everyone --

I will be visiting Austin for a long weekend, Oct. 13-16, with several friends from college. We are all 27-yr-old BC grads and wanted to see what real college football looks like. We saw Texas is hosting Iowa State, and we want to get to the game and partake in some authentic Texas tailgating. Being from out of town, we have no idea how everything works, so any advice/recommendations are welcome.

(There are 14 of us total visiting Austin for the weekend - 6 guys who are into the game, and 8 girls who can be persuaded if we can figure out some plans. Also, we're staying downtown at the Hyatt Place on 3rd and San Jacinto, so I think we can walk over to the stadium.)

Thanks!

Tailgating wasn't done when I was on campus, but I think Scholz's Biergarten is where I would start. What do you whippersnappers think?

Just Uber it to MLK and start walking towards the noise. You'll find plenty to occupy you.

Do you still have to whizz in the creek? Last time I was on campus for a game (a guy named Vince was QB) the only bano was in el arroyo next to all the tailgates.

No more Uber in Austin unless they let them come back. But either way a taxi should be good.
