OT: Nuclear weapons are the height of insanity . . .

If you’re a young’un and don’t understand this, go back and watch the 1980s production of The Day After or read today’s best seller Nuclear War by Annie Jacobsen. This isn’t a plea for unilateral disarmament. Far from it. The whole reason for the Manhattan Project was our fear that Hitler and the Nazis would develop an atomic bomb before we and our Allies could. The last thing in the world I’d want is for just the bad guys to have nuclear weapons. But the idea that for the first time in the thousands of years of world history that maybe a half a dozen semi-sane people have the power to kill you, me, and all our friends and families within minutes is just the peak of insanity. The peak of insanity. Have a good night. Rant over.
