Just rewatched this episode (I've been working through the series again).
The Viper sure wasted a lot of energy dancing around, including an acrobatic twirl in the beginning just to show off.
Of course he didn't need to die. He could have finished off The Mountain without the stupid need to get him to confess.
On a side note, the conversation between Tyrion and Jamie before the fight is one of the best I've seen. The writing in that scene was top notch.
