Oklahoma sophomore QB Cody Thomas has left the football program to pursue baseball.
Thomas confirmed his departure in a text to The Oklahoman. He actually played baseball as a true freshman, before (temporarily) quitting the sport last spring to focus on football. The 6-foot-4, 211-pound sophomore served as third-string quarterback this past season. In his career, he appeared in 21 contests (three starts) and threw for 343 yards with a 2/4 TD/INT ratio. With the transfer of Trevor Knight to Texas A&M and Thomas' decision to exit stage left, Baker Mayfield's backup in 2016 figures to be true freshman Austin Kendall.
