Hard to believe it is almost 40 years old.
Buddy of mine and I were debating the all time great war movies (not series so no BOB). I mean the cream of the crop, the 1% or 1%.
We narrowed it down to: Platoon, Patton and Saving Private Ryan and I went with Platoon as the GOAT. My father who was a three tour Army Ranger & Tunnel Rat in Vietnam said it is the closest to what actual war was really like. The emotions, the fear, the clicks within platoons, the atrocities were all on point in his opinion. And he confirmed latrine duty is as awful as you would imagine.
I give it a 10/10 and probably have it in my all time Top 20 movies.
