Ketch's 10 Thoughts From The Weekend (Let's talk recruiting...)

Help me out.

Kobe Black and I’m drawing a blank.

The safety spots have been solid

And watts and Brooks were transfers.

Brooks was not a transfer.

Filsaime 5-stars
Malik Muhammad - 5 stars
Black - High 4 stars
Brooks - High 4 stars
Johnson-Rubell - Mid 4 stars
Wardell Mack - Mid 4 stars
Derek Williams - Md 4 stars
Jelani McDonald - Mid 4 stars
Guilbeau - Mid 4 stars

Plus solid portal additions. Recruiting hasn’t been the issue IMO it’s been coaching, but maybe that had to do with the roster talent they inherited. Proof will be in the puddin’ this fall.

Anything is possible, but the roster make-up of this team is quite different than those two teams when those managers left.
Be interesting to see what happens with Salah and VVD. Do you think they move on?

Not in this off-season. I expect Virgil to get a new deal. Not sure what happens with Mo beyond 2024-25.

Soooooooo ... never punt?

It's bold, but I kind of like it.

B/S Sorrell and Burke’s production next season will surpass Crowder and Robison’s 2005 season

(Buy) We're talking 24 tackles for loss and 10 sacks. Sorrell and Burke combined for 13.5 TFL and 9.5 sacks in 2023. I think they'll get there.

This doesn't even include Trey Moore and Colin Simmons

When was the last time Texas signed a 5 star from Missouri before last season? Or a 5-star quarterback from Louisiana? Or a 5-star running back from Florida?

The goal is to land elite talent. Period.
We both agree on that. I guess the issue I am having with your statement that “Texas needs to sign super blues at DT.” Sure that can be a goal but the number of players fitting that profile at DT has been year in and out a much smaller number than let’s say WR (11) OT (7) DB (11) in 2025 class. That is almost 10 times the number of players to choose from. Plus 7 of those actually live in Texas!!

In 2025 according to Rivals Rankings there are 3 DTs in top 70 and another at #84 all from states pretty far from Texas. If Texas signs one of those players every 3 years Texas would be WAY ahead of the curve!! Top 70 rated recruits that play DT really are unicorns!!

As good as Man City has been over the last decade, it has never done that. 36 out of 38 and not even counting the Champions League glory in the middle of it? No team in the history of the sport has ever done such a thing and probably never will again.

Real Madrid is better

They are unicorns, but if they exist, Texas needs to hop on one of those bastards!

maybe we are looking at it two different ways. Are we giving Terry Joseph credit for Blake Gideon's safety recruits or was Joseph more into those recruitments than I'm giving him credit for.

Filsame is a Safety correct?
Johnson -Rubell SafetyCorrect?
Derek Williams...Safety correct?
Jalani McDonald...Safety Correct?

MuHammad...stud
Brooks...wash out
Mack.....hopeful
Guilbeau......waiting for light to come on
Black....hopeful
Wilson...h

I've never seen that one.
I rewatched that scene which is good. Actor that played Max Headroom is his partner and Barry Corbin is his superior/boss. Terri Garr his wife. Movie is really dated but he keeps trying to get killed in action for insurance for family. Each occurrence, he foils the criminals and gets promoted instead.

I think it gets a little blurry for the defensive backs.

What I find fascinating about the conversation is that all of this discussion probably comes down to only two or three more super blue chips. It's adding Jonah Williams. It's landing potentially one more super blue chip offensive lineman. Sometimes the margins on these things end up being really small, which is why it could still happen.

================================================================

If the margins are that small, I'm not going to sweat whether Texas is ranked #1 or #5. You would like to be able to say you had the #1 class, but at the end of the day, is it really that important, as long as you are somewhere in the mix? Now, if we fall back to the #15 range or near that, then I am a little concerned.

2. 9 to 5

One of the great comedies of the 1980s, Coleman plays the a-hole boss that Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton all want to kill/kidnap/expose to the world.

1. Tootsie

Am I wrong for having this in the No. 1 spot? It feels like the movie I most associate him with.

Tootsie is the better movie, but for me, 9 to 5 is the movie I most associate with Dabney Coleman.

Those extra 2-3 5-stars for 2-3 straight years is what allows Bama and Georgia to be Bama and Georgia.

@Ketchum

I've been Chelsea Blue since ‘06 and have followed the EPL since. I have to admit that Klopp has been my favorite manager during this time. With all due respect to Sir Alex Ferguson, Klopp represents the man's man type of manager who easily balanced the high stakes of top-flight football while remaining extremely likable and approachable.

While I would love him to manage Chelsea someday, I can't help but wonder if Klopp’s best move would be a Jimmy Johnson-like early retirement, but without the forgettable years heading some version of “Miami.” Given his age and alpha personality, never managing again is highly unlikely, so whatever the future brings, the next phase feels risky.

I think there's a chance that he walks away forever.

Our DT recruiting bugs me. We need war daddy signed at least every other year at this spot.

Why do I feel like we really aren’t the favorites in softball? Nevermind. I know why. Hopefully the ladies don’t feel the same or maybe do and use it as underdog motivation.

This idea that Sark needs to achieve the RIVALS #1 ranking is pretty self serving for Rivals...

Maybe Sark has a different way of evaluating, maybe the teams needs dont match up with the rankings....maybe he thinks the Rivals ranking sucks
