We're rounding out the home stretch of Texas spring football practices with all eyes toward the spring game. Unfortunately, media access to practices has now been shut down and sources around the team are most focused on Saturday. With this said, here are a few quick notes that we heard from around Tuesday's closed practice:

- Not sure exactly what to expect in the spring game from a structure standpoint. There has been some talk over the last few days that the spring game is likely to be more of a "practice with a few bells and whistles" more so than a true scrimmage-like game situation. At least that is the sentiment that has been passed on to a few members of our staff behind the scenes. Even if this is the case, it will be a very informative and revealing event as the access and viewing of practices has been so very limited this spring as compared to previous ones, with a few unknowns still lingering about the depth chart, QB play, etc.

- One thing that is not unknown is that fans should probably be prepared to see the OL struggle somewhat. Seeing the unit play at a baseline level should be considered a win if it were to occur. They are just really thin right now and in real need of the talent infusion to come this summer.

- LT Andrej Karic continues to be out of practice, putting his status for the spring game in at least some doubt. Maybe Sark will address injuries -- who's in and who's out -- at his Thursday availability. I don't see any sense in keeping that a secret as there's no opponent to be attempting to throw off the scent. Some of the main contributors whose statuses would seem to be up in the air are Karic, TE Juan Davis and WR Jaden Alexis while we know that Troy Omeire is not going to go (although he is reportedly working his way back well and should be firing on all cylinders by fall camp).

- Probably the most interesting tidbit to pass along regarding the OL -- Junior Angilau was cross-training at center on Tuesday, we were told. In this setup, backup center Logan Parr was working with the first team at Angilau's usual RG spot while Angilau was handling snapping duties for the backups. So, the offensive line in this scenario was LT Hayden Conner, LG Logan Parr, C Jake Majors, RG Cole Hutson, RT Christian Jones. We're very likely to see Angilau, of course, playing with the first team in the spring game, but the longer Karic is out, it's becoming more and more likely that we'll have an extended look at Hayden Conner at LT on Saturday which also means an extended look at RG for Cole Hutson as he backfills Conner's original spot. I don't think many expected the team to be in a spot where they'd be planning to use a true-freshman early enrollee in Hutson as a starter for the Orange-White game while Hayden Conner handled LT duties, but it's looking like a real possibility. It certainly would be a big opportunity for the two young players.

- We'll probably see a lot of mixing and matching as well as subbing players in and out on defense -- among both the first and the second groups. Reportedly guys who hadn't even been getting much run with the twos were rotating in on team drills during Tuesday's practice: Prince Dorbah, who'd presumably been playing with the backups and certainly apparently behind Justice Finkley for the No.2 job behind Ovie Oghuofo based on the windows of practice open to the media, was running in at times, and backup LB Devin Richardson and backup DL T'Vondre Sweat were reportedly also getting some run.
