Raised By Wolves on HBO Max

Episodes 6 and 7 out today and they are solid. Story really beginning to pick up steam.
Didn't it coming that Marcus would be the one who was prophesied.

Thanks for the rec. Does HBO max automatically play the next episode like Netflix & Amazon Video?

thought it was the title of your autobiography upon seeing the post headline

I have HBO through sling and can’t get raised by wolves. I am enjoying Lovecraft Country and Halfworlds. Will need to see how I get max.

I think I was supposed to be able to get HBO Max since I have an HBO sub on DirecTV, but I have Roku and I don't think it's compatible with HBO Max somehow.

Yeah HBOMax isn’t on Roku. Got a PlayStation or something else?

I think you just might need your Sling username and password for access.

edit: yeah can’t get it through Sling. Just looked it up.

You can still mirror to a roku device and use the app on your phone if you want to.

Pretty ridiculous they haven't been able to add it yet. I have 5 roku boxes and it's annoying.

The lack of having Max on Roku and Amazon Fire Stick was an epic fail. Luckily i have a Samsung Smart TV and there is an app for HBO Max you can get. If you have a Samsung Smart TV you are good to go.

First 3 episodes were released today. Stars Travis Fimmel and has a Prometheus feel to it. Ridley Scott is involved as a producer and directs a few episodes.
Thanks for the reminder. I was really excited when I saw the trailer a couple months ago, but then I forgot. It looks like it'll be one I have to watch by myself because my wife is fragile and easily frightened.

I was pretty whelmed by the first season. What I wrote after seeing it (no real spoilers):

A gloomy and bleak Ridley Scott sci-fi series with heavy religious overtones on HBO Max. It starts out with two androids (Mother and Father) raising a small group of kids on the one hospitable planet that humans had discovered, right as Earth is becoming unlivable as a result of a giant conflict between athiests and followers of the Mithraic religion (if this sounds like the South Park episodes with the otters, you're on the right track).

As the Mithraic were finally winning the war, they sent one or more "Noah's Ark" type spaceships off to this new planet, but also an atheist leader sent these two androids off to birth and raise a new civilization of atheists on this planet. The planet is harsh and unforgiving, the two groups eventually come into conflict, some mysteries about what else is on the planet emerge, etc. Overall, it's a pretty joyless and over-serious slog, but if you were wired to geek out on movies like Prometheus, you might dig it.

Given your detailed synopsis I'm curious as to your thoughts on Foundation.

I don't have the Apple streaming TV, but I've heard really poor things about the show, especially from people who read the books. Tell me what you think, though. Thanks.

I felt like the first season lost steam as it went. There seemed to be a lot of reel time without much happening; just got very slow to me. Bailed on the last few episodes. I guess I’ll fire it up and try again with the positive compliments for Board.

Tried it lost interest as Mother went batshit crazy may need to try & resume

I didn't read the books, so I don't have the same issues others have had with what seems like every sci-fi/fantasy adaptation. It's an interesting story with a lot of production value, so I found it to be entertaining. Certainly it has holes that I'm sure were better filled by the books, but on it's own merit I enjoyed the first season.

I tend to rate series and movies on a scale of regret and I don't regret the time invested in it, so it would be a success in my book. It also came at a time when there wasn't much content due to covid, so that may have influenced my opinion of it.

How was Season 1?
I liked it it by my science fiction enjoyment bar is low. It’s pretty ****ed up and Ridley is just continuing with the world he built in Prometheus. If you liked that movie you will like this.

If you have Apple TV watch series called Servant, it’s really good.
