The Rivals 3-Stripe Camp in Dallas was held on Sunday and I was there to take in the action. I’ll have more throughout the week, but a few notes of interest from today …
--- Tommy Brockermeyer was very good, as usual. He and Prince Dorbah squared off with some nice one-on-one battles with each guy having some success. Not a lot new to report as far as his recruitment … Texas is still in a great spot with this one.
--- Prince Dorbah released a top five last night of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Oklahoma State and LSU. Interestingly, I’m told OU really hasn’t been recruiting him aggressively of late, which makes me think Texas is in a really good spot here. In fact, I just put my FutureCast pick in for UT.
--- I didn’t interview James Brockermeyer since I had just talked to him last week. As I noted then, Herb Hand will evaluate him this spring and decide then on a potential offer.
--- 2022 DT Kethian Alexander was a beast all day. At 340 pounds, that dude was a handful for everybody he went up against, including James Brockermeyer. Alexander doesn’t have a UT offer but he will at some point. He said he talks to Oscar Giles pretty much every day. He’s planning to visit Texas next weekend.
--- Frisco Reedy OT Nate Anderson was damn good today. Moves very well and plays with a big of a nasty streak. He’s a tad undersized right now at about 260 pounds, but he’s only been playing OL for a year after having previously played DE and tight end. He told me he’s not hearing from Texas, but would definitely have an interest if UT reaches out. Anderson has about seven offers from the likes of Baylor, Washington State, Houston and Missouri. I expect his list will continue to grow.
--- Corner Jalen Kimber was very good yet again. No surprise there. I had spoken to him recently so there wasn’t really much new to report, but the Longhorns made a very strong impression on him when he visited UT a few weeks ago.
--- Safety Darius Snow showed up wearing UT sandals and a Michigan State shirt but don’t read too much into the UT shoes. Snow told me he hasn’t heard from Texas in a while.
--- Round Rock WR Collin Sullivan was very good, as he was at The Opening camp a few weeks ago. I chatted him up a bit but he said he’s really not hearing from Texas much anymore.
--- 2021 WR Quay Davis was good as well. He’s still thrilled after picking up a UT offer last month but did say Texas still sits behind Oregon on his list. He told me he’s trying to visit Alabama and Oregon in April but also wants to get back to Austin soon.
--- WR JJ Hester is a name to watch closely. He’s out of Booker T Washington in Tulsa, but Oklahoma isn’t really pushing there. Hester, ranked No. 105 in the nation, visited Texas in February and the Longhorns made a very, very strong impression. Arkansas is heavily involved as well.
