Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh said yesterday at a media session that redshirt freshman Zach Gentry will move to tight end and redshirt junior Khalid Hill will move to fullback.

Hmm, dont think ol Jim pulled a fast one do you? I mean I know he kept the gray area promise while getting Zach to flip from Texas...the ol' "certainly youll get a look at QB" line. Just came up a bit short.

Think Zach regrets not going to Texas?

Gentry is prototypical pro style quarterback and with the new offense being spread based system not as suited for a pocket passer I doubt he regrets not coming to Texas even if he regrets going to Michigan. By most accounts he was really needing a lot of work, so he wouldnt have been an answer for us last season either.

Yes, Harbaugh pulled a fast one, he seems the car salesman type and I doubt he lasts five years at Michigan, although if he reels in a natty in that time he'll at least leave on a high note.

Hook 'em

It benefits a coach to have a stable of quality QBs. A player is either good enough to play QB or he isn't. He had his shot to show he was good enough and failed. Not sure what else is needed. Is Harbaugh (or any other coach) supposed to let him waste away on the depth chart at the wrong position? If Gentry feels screwed, he's free to transfer.

If a recruit is going to make it at this level of football he's got to completely buy in. No matter what position he plays. It doesn't benefit a team for a coach to get athletes on the team that aren't buying into the position they get stuck at. The ones that feel screwed either leave or cycle out either way they hardly ever become a positive for the program.

Harbaugh is a good coach, he is a winning coach. He isn't stupid, if the kid can't play QB I'm sure it's not a screw job but rather trying to find a place where he can fit in.

For all we know we might do the same exact thing with Kai Locksley.

JH might be an asshole, but that asshole can coach football.

I think Harbaugh is just trying to get Michigan back as quickly as possible, and then get back to the NFL. I think that's where he wants to be. You don't get thst close to a SB and then leave the NFL forever.

Could see several jobs interesting him
Colts
LA
Besrs

I think Gentry should have stayed home in Albuquerque and attended the University of New Mexico where he could have stayed at QB,remember Watson recruited him and where is he now.The kid was a highly recruited QB running a pro style offense.

I don't see Harbaugh bouncing anytime soon. The guy is having WAY too much fun right now. He's doing sleep overs at recruits houses (weird but effective) and he's killing it with the media. A sweet little ancillary benefit he's getting is the ability to totally p!ss off the entire SEC by hosting spring ball in Florida. He loves wearing the white hat infront of his fans and the black hat infront of everyone else. Knowing he's p!ssing off all those coaches and fans just winds his watch. That's the a$$hole side of him that you gotta love. He'll probably be in the national title talk all year in 2016, and it will come down to the game vs Ohio St. If he catches a break and beats Ohio St and gets into the play off, he'll immediately be offered a looooooooooooooong term contract extension worth a sh!t ton of money and my guess is, he signs it. When a school elevates you to the status of a demigod, it's dang hard for you to say "no" to that and walk away...... especially when it's "momma". Everybody wants "momma" to love them, and when Michigan is your momma, she's tough to turn down. I look for urban and jimmy to be duking it out for the next decade.

College football is a better place when blue bloods are relevant.

I agree with you in genreal clob. I just think there are a few NFL jobs that would intrigue Harbaugh and that he will go eventually. He's young enough though he can have a long run at Michigan and still go back one day.

Been there,Done that,I think he will stay at Michigan for awhile and makes a good run at the National Championship.I see his career like Saban of Alabama who made a stop in the NFL and Left. College coaches of top programs are well paid and he will have enough money to live on for life after a couple of years

Let's all remember that Gentry played football in New Mexico.... Take a deep breathe and let that sink in.... He'd have been good as a lobo as a horn not so much. Work in progress wherever he went. Not hating on him just saying the talent he was playing against in the largest classification in NM would get drummed by 3A's here. Most of their coaches are part time and have other day jobs.

Good luck to him tho. Hope he sticks it out at UM and proves everybody wrong.

I don't know. It's hard for me to believe that Harbaugh, given his particular personality, could come so close to a Super Bowl win and not just be dying to have another shot. We'll see.
