Interesting numbers. Will be interesting to see if this changes with the much bemoaned home schedule this year.

FOOTBALL REVENUE PER SEAT and PER FAN
FY2024 ('23 Season)

Updated RevSeat and RevFan data for FY24, looking at gameday-related revenue.

There're a lot to unpack in here, but three issues really stood out to me (below):

What do you guys see as interesting takeaways?

My Top Three:

1) Leakage of sports revenue that doesn't flow to Athletics is a bigger issue that some realize

2) The weeknight games destroy attendance, and could be work a strategic deep dive look at the trade-offs

3) Elite non-conf scheduling that creates compelling games pays off. Take a look at #1: UT didn't schedule Michigan and Ohio State consecutively because Sark wants to become a Toledo War reenacting hobbyist.* They're making sure that DKR is THE place to be.

P.S. Remember: This data is directly FROM your school and signed off on by its hired CPAs, so there's no need to fans to whine or invent conspiracies, but always appreciate insights from department folks on where their accounting has goofy issues impacting them!

* Unrelated Side Note: Best part about the Toledo War is that somehow, despite not having any role in it, the only loser was Wisconsin, who lost the U.P. There's prob a Big Ten analogy in there somewhere. 🤣
