Texas heads to College Station to take on the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday, January 4th, at 7:00PM CT on the SEC Network.
Entering SEC play, the message that has been stressed inside the locker room is that, the Longhorns have to become a more defensive minded team and crashing the boards while matching the intensity of ‘big boy basketball’ that the team has described the SEC to be as of today.
Redshirt Senior, Kadin Shedrick, mentioned the Aggies’ effort on the offensive glass and it being a point of emphasis in their upcoming matchup, “The biggest thing that stands out, is the fact that they’re number one in the nation in offensive rebounding,” Shedrick said, “ they know how to attack the glass and it just goes hand in hand with their front court.”
Head Coach Rodney Terry stated their intent in the last four games, since the matchup against UCONN, as they started to emphasize playing SEC basketball and playing with urgency and a healthy pace of play.
Texas is 3rd in the nation in 3PT%, while being in the lower third in threes attempted, Terry mentioned how they still want to pose their emphasis on a great shot instead of a good shot, therefore attacking the basket, and having paint touches to then set up guys who are shot ready.
