Sam missed practice Sunday

Sliding is only half the equation. Yeah when he scrambles or gets into the open field he doesn't need to be lowering his shoulder into DBs and LBs, but on designed runs he can't just slide at the first sign of contact because that's often the LOS. His power running is pretty much what we are relying on to get a few yards.

The kid runs because his OL collapses and he takes people head on our gets driven out of bounds and drives his head off the turf, that's not on Beck. His designed runs are limited.
Good point, but I still think the adults in the room need to take Sam on a field trip. He needs to see some slides of brains with and without CTE.

(From this BU.edu page, which has a lot of helpful info on CTE, including on how to donate your brain to their research.)

How your brain tissue is SUPPOSED to look:

If he's our main running option, that is most definitely on Beck's playcalling and schemes. What, Sam's supposed slide 20x per game? Since Sam took over here are the top 2 rushing attempts per game:

OSU - Sam 16 carries, Warren 12
OU - Sam 22, Warren 6
KSU - Sam 20, Warren/Porter 7

How many designed and how many because the play broke down, this OL is the worst I have EVER seen.

its immaterial. we have refused to even attempt to establish a running game all year. we could give the ball to warren, carter, or even porter 15 or 20 times a game between them and at least keep the defense somewhat honest. they know we wont even try to run it now and are just focusing on sam. we will win 0 games from now until the end of time if the plan is to run our qb 20 times and have him throw it 40 times. it will never work. in any universe.

Carter gets a bunch of carries this weekend. Just a hunch.

based on what? USC sam had 19 carries compared with a combined 16 for the rest of the team. against ksu sam had 20 carries and the rest of the team had 20. against zero u we had 22 carries for sam and 17 for the rest of the team. and again against osu sam had 16 carries compared to 17 for the rest of the team. nothing in any of the games that sam has started leads me to believe that they will do anything any differently than they have so far this year. and the games with shane arent much better.

I'd be willing to bet only a handful of his runs are pre-snap coach calls though. Fish qb & an O-line of confused dominos results in more improv scrambles.

Not designed runs, but some of the folks around here don't football well.
