Sark--- dead man walking

This is probably going to be a record year for coach firings. I have an idea. Due to the massive turnover in coaching, there should be a large number of players available in the portal due to the changes. We should be "encouraging" certain players to enter the portal as well. We could have upwards of 30-40 new players on the roster by next year. This would be a great way to purge the attitudes.

This team doesn't really care if they win or lose. Don't get me wrong I'm sure they would prefer to win but not enough to put in any extra effort. I think individually they all want to look good and make some plays so they can spin the ball or thump their chest after they make a common tackle, but they don't care if the team wins the game.

I think losing Sam last year really took it's toll on the leadership aspect of this team. I don't see any real leaders on this team and that's concerning.

My son and I were having this conversation Saturday night. Why are no team leaders stepping up? There are none! That says a lot about the state of things within the team having no leadership from any of the senior players.

They have all checked out mentally. I wish all the fans would do the same and not go to the K State game. Why support a team who doesn't care. I think there's a lot of bad seeds in that locker room and i'll be glad when this season is over and the upper classmen move on. Need to get some new faces in there and start building a foundation. Gonna be a long rough road ahead.

Can't argue with anything that you said here. I checked out after the ISU game. No way that Texas beats WVU or KSU. The team has quit.

I didn’t even watch the Kansas game. I just glanced at the score here and there. I won’t watch WVU or KSU games either. This has never happened before.

Scholarships should be revoked for anyone not "buying in".

This team is full of Beta male bitches.

I hate to place blame on the coaches because I think our problems lie within the players but Pete K. isn't doing a good enough job putting players in place to succeed. Here's an example of a 3rd and 1 where they only have 2 down lineman and the 2 edge guys standing up. This just makes no sense to me.

My biggest concern is the lack of motivation, which I noticed initially in the Arkansas game.
Arkansas and it’s fans HATE Texas and it’s arrogance. They want to break us both mentally and physically, and if the football team can’t get it done, the fans will try to do it before the team gets out of town.
I was shocked to see our team show up in Fayetteville so lackadaisically, going through the motions once again without any display of a will to win. Arkansas was ready and stomped on us. They destroyed our will so thoroughly that they even seemed to let up in the fourth quarter.
“How can we be this unprepared?” I thought. “The players have to know this is Arkansas’ Super Bowl.”
I hoped that it was an aberration and would be fixed, but I see the same lack of fortitude week in and week out. Though the schemes may be fixable- coaching- and the players replaceable (excluding BJ, Worthy, Roschon)- vis a vis the portal and recruiting, the lack of motivation seems to remain eternally. I recall Sark saying he treated the players like professionals; I am afraid that’s not going to end well. Sometimes teenage males need a man to yell at them to fix their behavior- it seems like Sark is too nice of a guy to get it done.

My only consolation this season is seeing the apathy bug has apparently hit the OU players as well- they don’t play with anywhere near the intensity that they have in the past.

Make scholarships revocable. Replace them with transfers. It's easy.

Edit: this just in... beta bitches on the way out, lol. This doesn't include new recruits from high school.

Ok, so-- dudes are leaving.

But who is coming in?

I don't see Thor, Captain America and the Hulk coming through the transfer portal anytime soon......

Like you mentioned earlier, we need guys who have the right attitude and then build off of that.

I’ll take 3-4 star players off of winning high school programs over a 5 star from a losing program. The 3-4 star doesn’t need to be taught how to win. He hates losing and doesn’t want to feel that sting. The 5 star only knows how to lose. That’s the cancer.

They don't necessarily have to be this type. Of course recruiting matters. Talent does matter. Texas needs some A+ personality types. Some dogs. Some gangsta types. Those who want to put in the work both physically and mentally. Those who want to win at all cost. THAT's what this program needs. If you're in second place, you're in last place attitude. You're not late to the weight room, meetings, practice or class. That is NOT acceptable. Sark and the coaches need to rid the program of softness and SJW's. It's about team chemistry and EVERYONE buying in and being on the same page.

Sark guys. Guys that feel tied to him. That know what he expects and won't deal with.
I see what you're saying Clob and you are right most of the time......but I think if he can get 33 to 40 spots cleared out and his guys in then he may can do this. These will be guys chomping at the bit to prove they should have started where they were at. Guys that will grind for the guy giving them a chance. Right now we have little upper class help and they were part of good time Hermyville.

Brutal. Assume even the UT BMDs don't have the dough to can Sark now. Maybe UT can pull an MSU and get some lineman and a QB in the portal. You don't need another running back.
Thompson was great before the thumb injury. I think he could be serviceable. He hasn't quit like some. He's played injured since ou. By next year he will know the playbook. We need some dogs in the tackle box on both sides of the ball. Make a list of all the teams with changing coaching staffs. All those rosters are fair game. They need to start tampering immediately.

Sorry if already posted. But it's about to get even worse. Bijan is out for the season. Every one of those ol should go to the hospital and ask for his forgiveness. The old cliche that rb is only as good as his ol. Our ol and Bijan Robinson is living proof of that.

However this clears the way for Jonathan Brooks. He's the most fascinating recruit we've signed in a long time. He played well in garbage time against Rice and TT. But we got a sample of his talent before he got hurt in KS game. I hope he can go against WV let's see what he can do. Go back and read about his senior season.

Just curious, what’s so fascinating about Brooks. I know he was a 4*, but don’t remember much excitement about his recruitment and when he signed. He looked pretty good against Rice.

I’m hearing that Ewers may be in the portal since it appears CJ Stroud has the OSU QB job locked up for the next couple years.

I bet this off season will have a record number of players in the portal.

This is a gross over simplification and probably proves nothing. However, the general trends it depicts is enough for me to stick with "it is coaching and not the players". Good effing grief, we can't even remember what a good defense looks like. It has been since pre-2010 since we have seen competence on the defensive side of the ball.

Notice the trend goes down in both points and yds allowed from Reece to Robinson to Chizik. Very short time span. After Akina took over for Chizik-it goes back up (1 year). Boom comes around and it goes back down. _iaz comes to town and Texas defense never recovered to this day. Many of the changes happened in one year either in improvement or decline to the corresponding coaching change. None had to wait for their own special recruits-they worked with what they had. Coach Kwiatkowski's season isn't even over and he is trending to be the worst of all in both yds/game and pts/game unless, something different happens

As I was looking at all these years of defense, there was a macro trend that I saw where the top Big 12 defensive teams had upper 200 to lower 300 yards per game allowed, the middle of the pack was mid to upper 300s and the worst teams tended to have >400 yds allowed per game.

Again, these are generalities

Texas Defense: Yds per game allowed and Points per game allowed
2021: 435 yds/game. 32.5 pts/game. Kwiatkowski
2020: 406 yds/game. 28.5 pts/game. Ash
2019: 446 yds/game. 28.9 pts/game. Orlando
2018: 401 yds/game. 26.2 pts/game. Orlando
2017: 363 yds/game. 21.7 pts/game. Orlando
2016: 448 yds/game. 31.5 pts/game. Bedford
2015: 452 yds/game. 30.3 pts/game. Bedford
2014: 348 yds/game. 23.3 pts/game. Bedford
2013: 407 yds/game. 25.8 pts/game. Robinson ***
2012: 404 yds/game. 29.2 pts/game. _iaz
2011: 306 yds/game. 22.2 pts/game. _iaz
2010: 300 yds/game. 23.7 pts/game. Boom
2009: 251 yds/game. 16.7 pts/game. Boom
2008: 339 yds/game. 18.6 pts/game. Boom
2007: 374 yds/game. 24.6 pts/game. Akina
2006: 291 yds/game 17.8 pts/game. Chizik
2005: 280 yds/game. 14.6 pts/game. Chizik
2004: 317 yds/game. 16.2 pts/game. Robinson/Tomey
2003: 329 yds/game. 21.5 pts/game. Reece

*** Robinson came out of the consultant gig to step in as official DC after Mack canned Diaz for allowing BYU to amass 679 total yds of which 550 yds were from RUSHING. Keep in mind that Robinson got that sh*tty game added to his avg that season-He would probably have been around 386 yds/game instead of 407 if you adjust down 679 yds to 400.

We have had some pretty bad defenses in the last 10 years but I think this years takes the cake.

If Kwitkowski had a LB unit that wasn't made up of a non athletic walk on, a converted Safety and a freshman, then I might tend to agree. PK may have been a bad hire, but all of those coaches had proper players that were under performing.

Right I don’t think people get that or maybe they don’t want to get it. The announcer on the game Saturday pointed out that he wasn’t sure Texas had the guys to run Pk’s system right now.
Also made the point that the QB that Sark ultimately wins with probably isn’t on campus. So everyone that doesn’t have Burt orange glasses on sees it.

The "coaches adapt their system to what they have" crowd has never coached a day in their life. I freaking hate that stupid saying. Coaching isn't magic and it sure as shit isn't easy. Most people that say crap like that can't even get their household in order...and they only have a few people to manage.

There is absolutely NO recipe to make chicken salad out of chicken shit. It doesn't exist.

Unless there is something happening behind closed doors Pete Kwiatovsky was a good hire. One need to only look at the number of good players he sent to the NFL while he was at WA.
