Sark's Record is Very Comparable to DKR and Mack's Pre-Texas Records

That means absolutely nothing. Most coaches with mediocre records remain mediocre. Listing a few exceptions does’t raise the probability that the candidate you selected will be successful.

So hiring guys with mediocre records at Washington is our secret sauce?
Sark took over a UW program that had gone 0-11 the year before. He steadily improved that program and had it in good shape before he screwed up and took the USC job.

He takes over a program at UT - after 3 years learning and massively succeeding under Nick Saban - that is in pretty good shape from a raw talent perspective, but needs to be improved from a discipline and talent development and game management perspective.

He also was just named the Assistant Coach of the Year in college football.

I'm thrilled with this hire and look forward to competing for the Big 12 championship next year.

But, but, Saban only won six games one year...

sounds like he would be a good hire for an 0-11 team.

Comparing him to mack is pretty disingenuous. Sark never won more than 9 games at usc, mack had multiple 10 plus win seasons at unc. The only reason the records are comparable is because mack had such a slow rebuild at unc.

Pretty sure DKR's initial salary was $10k a year.

I thought it was $15k, but you may be right.

I know when we hired coach Gus to take over the baseball program, he took a cut in pay. His high school coaching job paid him more.

Before some start complaining about Sark's W/L record as a head coach, consider....

Sarkisian:
46W 35L .568 Win %

Darrell Royal before Texas:
17 W 13L .567 Win %

Mack Brown before Texas:
95W 78L .549 Win %

Ok, now, by all means, carry on.

Hook 'em!!!

O M G

some logic enters the discussion!

well done my friend

Like Saban before LSU?

Saban went undefeated in his 14th year as a college head coach.
Saban was also a miserable failure as an NFL coach. Now, he's the greatest coach in college football history. Smart, dedicated people do tend to advance in life.
