Unless I’m missing something, these are the financial terms to UT of leaving or staying per current contract terms (excludes any negotiation between Big 12 and Tx/OU):
Leave early: Pay $80MM exit penalty,
Pay $15MM payment to Fox (estimate using Ketch’s math of $7MM per for 7 games less Tx/OU premium divided by 2)
Receive $70MM SEC distribution in 2024
Net cost: $25MM
Stay thru 2024: Pay $80MM exit penalty
Pay $0 to Fox
Receive $0 from SEC in 2024
Net cost: $80MM
I would call it gross negligence if our administration balks at leaving early.
