SEC will be tougher than expected

Riley been gone a few years now and Bedenbaugh still had a first round OL picked each of the last two seasons, and both of his OTs too. He's got a well earned reputation as a developer and we all know it. He's got his work cut out for him this year too
Riley has been gone only 2 years. And, it is only my opinion. Many Texas fans prabably disagree with me.

I have been thinking about the title of this thread. It used to piss me off, but I think now I get it .
I agree.....the secsecsec WILL be tougher than expected....... But,not for us...it will be lots tougher for THEM. With UT and OU the secsecsec schedule makers will have a tougher time rigging those schedules to allow every damned secsecsec team to be bowl eligible.....

I think Texas and OU in the SEC is great. Texas is in good shape and right at the top of the league right now. I expected that. OU is still to be determined. I do think, and this is not a flame, Texas got the much better SEC schedule this year and next, since it flips. There are some teams, including us, that have brutal schedules. One of your posters said OU and Georgia were the only two teams you had a shot of losing too, and I totally agree, except I think you wax OU.

Welcome to the SEC.

Yeah, the schedule makers rigged those schedules to allow for National title after title. The SEC schedule makers blessed you this year and next. And you are correct, Texas, and OU being in the SEC just made it tougher. You come in as a power so you will be at the top of the heap. However, if you think the SEC is anywhere close to the easier schedule, you would’ve had in the big 12 you are mistaken. After next year, you won’t be getting Mississippi State, Vandy, etc. every year. Texas will always have a shot at the SEC title due to the strength of your program. But it did just get tougher

Why is it, before we joined the SEC, everyone talked about how much harder the conference is top-to-bottom, but now we’re in the SEC our conference schedule is easy? 🤷‍♂️

My point, as it has always been, is that the SEC is really no different than any of the power conferences. A couple of really good teams, a couple of really bad teams, and most are just average. The entire SEC excuse for typically playing uncompetitive OOC games is because “the SEC is so much better top-to-bottom that they beat themselves up during conference play.” The SEC has traditionally gotten a pass for this.

I mean, if you’re gonna fellate the entire conference why is it all of a sudden not good enough for Texas? I’m not arguing for our SOS this season. I’m pointing out the hypocrisy of SEC bias.

@SOUTHSWAMP How are the Gators looking as they head to Austin? Damn good win over UK and looked good for a while against GA. Will Lagway play? Also, are people calling for Napier to be fired?

I’m not sure the extent of DJ injury as far as it’s an hamstring injury. But more tests to be done. Yeah that Kentucky game was tough great win for sure. It’s seem like the fire Napier talked has settled down a lot haven’t heard much lately, I’m super excited about the game in Austin.

An update on DJ, some great news the injury wasn’t as bad as perceived and he has not been completely ruled out yet vs Texas, but will know for sure and from Wednesday- Friday as Napier worded it, something like that.

If Vandy beats SC at home- during aggy off week-- expect a mass suicide event in College Station.
Who you got winning that one, Vandy is scrappy tough team and South Carolina got the 2 DEs that’s a double edged sword lol, causing all types of chaos.

I don't put anything past Vandy. They aren't supremely talented, but they get you to play trash ball. They get you to do dumb sh!t that you wouldn't do against other teams.
Why?

Because they're Vandy. Nobody takes them seriously. So people do dumb sh!t against them. And Vandy is JUST good enough to jump up and bite your ass when you do something stupid, thinking you can get away with it.

I honestly think Carolina is hung over after beating the brakes off aggy- (that late TD against aggy was just a giant middle finger) and I think Vandy jumps up and bites them in the ass.

It’s a must they put a spy on Pavia,

Are you happy Napier coming back next year?
Honestly before the season started I was on that new coach bandwagon but as the season progressed the thought of it just faded away game by game. So I’m cool with him coming back and we’re actually doing a lot better than many had us doing. I really like how aggressive our defense is it just need to be a lil more disciplined

That was a borderline cheap shot on Lagway.

I don’t know if this has been posted but it gives scenarios and tiebreakers. You just pick the winners of the games and see how that changes the standings. I just know several are asking who to pull for.

Wild some of the stuff that can happen.

I found one where 7 teams are 6-2 LOL. Texas would be ranked 7th in that scenario, but probably still get a playoff spot. Georgia and Alabama would play again and the loser would be kicked out

Would be a great start to the first year "we've expanded to 12 teams so no one is left out" narrative LOLOLOLOL

You are going to drive yourself crazy with all these scenarios. Look what I said about the horns goes for a&m as well. Do I have to remind you that the other loss was to Notre Dame who is not in the SEC?

I think Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, get bids. Ole Miss, Texas A&M and LSU out of playoff. This is assuming a Texas win vs. TAMU. If TAMU wins they are in and Texas is out. (Assuming a loss at Arkansas). Other scenario is Texas wins at Arky and loses at Aggie. Aggies play Bama in title game...lose and now we have Bama (in) and 6 teams at 6-2. I think Texas A&M gets the bid because they beat Texas and played in the title game. LSU, Georgia, Texas get the other bids. Tennessee and Ole Miss are out.

It will probably be a complete mess. But when you play an unbalanced schedule, this is what you can expect.

The title game is what I’m curious about. IF A&M wins out and plays in the title game and loses, do you get punished for losing that game even though multiple teams sit behind you with 2 losses. They didn’t get in, but you lost the title game. I don’t think you should be penalized for losing that game unless you get curb stomped, but just curious on thoughts.

I'm thinking it will. I forgot about the loss to Notre Dame. I don't see how a 3 loss team makes the CFP. Aggies have to win out IMHO.

Big 12 will get two teams
Big 10 will get two teams, maybe 3
ACC will get one team
G5 will get one team
Notre Dame is in

I think Georgia beats Tennessee and will get an at-large. There are 4, maybe 5 spaces. Bama, Texas, Tennessee, Georgia and Ole Miss are all in as 2 loss teams.

If it is 4 SEC teams in this scenario, I think Texas losing late to TAMU would keep them out. If Texas loses the last game of the year and doesn't have any quality wins, I think they're toast.

Texas has to win out IMO.

I have a slight disagreement in that I think the Big XII will only have one.

And you know the hardest one to pick is the G5 school. You never know till until playoff Sunday.

Yeah. Probably right unless BYU loses Champ. 1 loss BYU gets in I think.

Big 10 could get 3 depending on Penn St.

So we’ll say

B10 3
B12 1
ACC 1/2
G5 1
SEC 5/6
