For the first time since my brain revolted on No.v.20th and he pulls out my MRI slides and says “damn Belldozer that stroke was NOT WHAT ID TERM A SMALL STROKE LIKE THEY TOLD YOU IN THE ER based on the CT scan results. But he said I was doing remarkably well considering and released me to drive with no restrictions. So I guess I’m kind of like Gary Bussey on the road so watch out!

We all knew you were worse off than you let on. Your spelling and typing on here went to sh!t. But it's good to hear that you're making a recovery.

Any word on what may have caused it?

Well I went to my new cardio doc today because I want my heart monitored because my theory is that I may have a little Afib. Sometimes my heart kind of flutters and then beats right but that can cause a stroke. I’. Eatingdiabetic healthyeven though my docs aren’t convinced I’mfull blown diabetic in themergency room my A1C was 6.7, normal is 6.4 so I’mgwtting another A1C test very soon. The cardio wants to determine exactly what caused my stroke and address that. I told him I’m a Sooner fan and that was fairly stressful this year lol

Currently over 5000 homes without power in NB. I have PEC AND in the LAST ICE STOrmCOUPLE YEARS AGOI NEVERLOST POWER ONCE.

Take care of yourself man. You are right about AFib. If you have it and weren’t treated for it, then very possible the cause of the atroke. Also, 6.7 is full blown diabetes. I don’t think a doctor would miss on that. Maybe, yours is 5.7? That would be a normal/borderline pre-diabetes.

6.7 is full blown diabetes. Be careful man and try to completely change your diet. I watched diabetes completely wreck my grandpa and dads life so I was determined at a young age to not go down that road.

A couple years ago, my a1c was 9.8. Now I'm getting 5.1 on each check. Went carnivore and alittle ketovore. Started more walking and some strength training. Lost 30 lbs, other blood tests got good, no ache pains, feel 20 yrs younger.

I believe it’s not for profit. When my family drove me to Resolute afterIwas slurring my words, I asked my wife to go in the ER and grab a wheelchair. The shittyER STAFF DIDNT ASSIST ME GETTING FROM OUR CAR INTO THE ER, just allowed my wife to do the wheelchair work. Also at Resolutei had 2 echocardiograms done and the detailed reports are nowhere to be found except for saying no significantfindings.disappointing

My Neuto said he’s a lurker on here and has always admired my informative posts, even post stroke

Well the’mgoing to a really thorough Neuroand cardiologist who want to get to the bottom of it and prevent another one. My cardio thinks it could be from an irregular heartbeat and is monitoring me for that.they are also ruling out blood disease and cancer etc

My daughter has a nuero appt today. She's tallied two concussions this soccer season as goalie. She got one last year. So that is 3 in 2 years. We are pretty sure he will tell her to shut it down this year and possibly she needs to walk away. She's devastated. She is a junior and has been Varsity starter since sophomore year. Had gotten some interest from college.
But I told her that her mom and me will be gone one day, I'd like for her to be able to function normally.
The last concussion was a knee to the left temple that had her go out for a few seconds. That was a week and a half ago and still has a headache.

I think that it's disgraceful that soccer still allows heading. I've seen articles in the past about the high prevalence of concussions. I hold Title IX partially responsible.

Hers are all from collisions in the goal area.

We do have a girl out for heading one that was a rocket.

Man sorry to hear that for her but got to protect that brain. Do concussions make you more prone to strokes down the road? I remember that lb from New England several years back had a stroke possibly due to concussions? Not sure?

I've read they do but it's more likely to suffer from memory issues or alternative personality issues with continued concussions.
I feel she hasn't gone past that threshold because she isn't a sooner or aggie fan yet....if that day happens then I know I let her play too long!

Prayers for complete healing for your daughter!
I'm sure that you already have or will get the best, specialized care for her. I wonder if the colleges interested in her have specialists in athletic concussions that could further help her in evaluation or treatment?

Thanks!
She wants to be in sports medicine. Sideline trainer.
With soccer they aren't as willing to offer that stuff up from the colleges. They're reply is more "let us know if she can keep playing" type things ;)
We are going to specialists in Little Rock.
I appreciate the prayers. It could be way worse, but she desperately wants to keep playing. Her coach has been amazing. Just love when good people coach and care for your kid.
