My brother thinks it's going to be Lincoln Riley in part because LR new up a huge Cowboys fan. And RJ Young has implied that the state of OK has not warmed to LR like they did Stoops.

No the ideal hire is Urban Meyer. UM has no integrity which is fine with Jerry. Whatever else he may be Urban has won everywhere he's gone. There's no question he's a good judge of talent because he's sent so many players to the NFL.

And let's face it even if they haven't won a SB in 25 years the Cowboys are still the most high profile team in the NFL. Every sport has their profile coaching job. Baseball has the Yankees, the NBA has the Lakers, and the NFL has the Cowboys. Jus like the Yankees, and the Lakers, it's not just another coaching job.

And as I said above UM has no integrity which wouldn't bother Jerry at all. Hell they might find out they're kindred spirits. And when you think about it those 2 deserve each other.

My .02 worth

I think Jerry is leaning towards Lincoln the more I think about it. It’s either gonna be Lincoln Riley or Urban Meyer. I could be totally wrong but that’s my educated guess.

Riley would be a fool to join that looney bin. He has a great gig now. He is only 35 or so......he has another 10 years or so before he needs to hear tha call of the NFL.

With the ridiculous salaries that college coaches are making these days I have to agree. Riley makes 5 mil +/- a year, he can sit back and follow the Bob Stoops plan of competing for Conference Championships for the next 10-15 years and have all the job security in the world, why would anyone give that up? He’d be dumb if he did in my opinion unless he got some absurd guaranteed contract which I don’t see happening from Jerry Jones.

The guys on the radio just said that Jerry Jones and Lincoln Riley met on Monday.

If Lincoln decides to take a job with that S*** Show then good luck to him. Being a Redskins fan I will have no problem rooting against him. If he stays at OU, great, I want him to. If he leaves, OU will have no problem finding a quality replacement.

For Riley to get mixed up with the Jones is beyond dumb. No matter what Jerra promises, Riley would NOT have the final say on personnel or much else. At OU he can make his own way. The guy is like 35 or so....he can coach OU for at least 10 more years and if he still has the NFL itch, he can do it. By then Jerra most likely would have died.

And I don't buy for a minute the idea that OK has not warmed to Riley......Those meth cookin' okies would back Ben Laden if he was winning games.

If I was Riley I would only go to Dallas once Jerry dies, he wants a Championship and he wants it now. The pressure to get there from Jerry would be astronomical. My understanding is that Riley and the Jones' have been close for quite a while having formed a relationship around Stephen's son or something like that.

Riley and Meyer are not yes men. Jerrah going to have to twist himself into a pretzel when asked about personnel hires and play calling.

Lincoln Riley and Jason Garrett both make 6 million a year which is truly laughable and ridiculous. Having said that , outside of a huge guaranteed up front money contract, what's the benefit for Riley to go to Dallas?

Chuckie set the market at 10 million a year. Riley would get that. Sooooo 4 million more in pay AND the highest profile NFL job.

Being coach of the Dallas Cowboys far surpasses anything OU has to offer. It’s a dream for any coach to at least get a taste of the NFL one time. Worst case scenario is he fails and has to come back to college. He would have any job he wanted at the collegiate level. While it might not happen you’re crazy to think he wouldn’t take the job if Jerry offered.

Anyone thinking he hasn’t been prodded about the Cowboys job would be fooling themselves. The question is, does he take it? Who knows. If I’m Jerry I roll out an incentive laden contract to make sure Riley remembers to bring a DC with him

Limited experience and a high profile organization hire an LR? A fan base that is looking for a championship. If JJ hires him thats a huge gamble.

I think Riley is a good OC but I still don’t know if he’s a good HC or not?

The Air Raid offense sets a defense up for failure. As long as it is scoring, your defense just has to come up with a few stops here and there. Then the other team has to abandon their game plan and become 1 dimensional. That allows the defense to take-off.

When the Air Raid struggles, you are dependent on your defense to carry the day. However, you have not conditioned you defense for this situation. By design, the Air Raid does not take time off the clock. So you are now asking you defense to do something that you have not prepared them to do.

You’re a Redskins fan and you’re talking about another franchise being a shit show?

There's only 1 hire that would get this old Luv-Ya-Blue fan to watch the Cowboys. Jerry Jones should hire Jerry Jones to coach the Cowboys.

I'd love to watch that dumpster fire.

But why isn't Bob Stoops even mentioned as a long shot? He's not even given odds in any of the lists I've seen. Is he sick?

Whoever it is, they won't be in charge of running the team, Jerry does that. His success, no Super Bowl in 25 years, he is really good at it!!!

Exactly. My guess is that's how Jason Garrett lasted so long. Was he willing to flatter Jerry and request his opinions? Otherwise, how is Garrett's 85-67-0 number 2 on the list of Cowboys coaches, behind only Tom Landry?

Way more seasons than Jimmie Johnson or Barry $witzer. A poorer record than Wade Phillips, who got fired mid-season. Garrett had only 2 playoff wins in 8.5 seasons, yet he's got double their leash?

The only way that happens is if he's far more obsequious to the narcissist in chief.

I suspect it’s going to be an NFL coach that’s won a Superbowl. I don’t think it will be a Lincoln or some college coach with no experience in the NFL.
