Anwar and Alex pretty much have you covered with their notes, but a couple things I noticed while I was out there snapping some pics. (Photo gallery can be found here)
I spent most of my time watching the WRs (as you'll see in the photos). Drew Mehringer really working on some small fundamental things in the drills I watched and paying close attention to even the smallest details. For example, he jumped on Brennan Eagles pretty emphatically once because Eagles was staring at his break point on his route, which would essentially tip off the defender. "Keep your (blanking) eyes up," Mehringer yelled.
You'll see it in the background of a couple of the pics, but Mehringer had his guys running stop routes where they had to break off their route right as they were running under a low "door" that basically looked like it was made out of PVC. The guys would have to get low in their breaks as they were going through the door, then come back under and catch the ball. From what I could tell, everyone did pretty well, aside from ...
Lil'Jordan Humphrey had a couple easy drops early in practice. Nothing to worry about, but you could tell he (and Mehringer) were pretty frustrated. Jordan Pouncey also had an uncontested drop.
Toneil Carter fumbled on basically the one scrimmage play we were allowed to watch. Let's hope that was a one-time thing because that's something he needs to get cleaned up.
The guys were in full pads and it was pretty physical in the little bit we saw, including some simulated open-field tackling drills with the DBs and WRs on what almost looked like simulated WR screens. Didn't really see anything exciting, but the defensive guys were taking the offensive players to the ground ... no thudding.
