In the midst of a play-calling (and possible QB) shakeup, here are some notes the OB staff has been able to pick up from sources regarding Texas closed practices and the current QB situation.

- QB Jerrod Heard reportedly took “a bunch” of reps with the first team at practice on Wednesday as expected. Multiple sources confirmed to different members of the Orangebloods staff that Heard and Tyrone Swoopes were switching in and out with the starters during some team drills. Team drills (or 11-on-11 work) is real, first-team work as opposed to other "first team" reps Heard may have been taking previously. Swoopes remained the first QB in during team drills, though, reportedly.

- One person said that new play-caller Jay Norvell had either Swoopes or Heard at his side during some team drills - probably talking to them about the play while the other guy ran it. “Learning fast,” this person said. When asked who worked out with the two’s the source said “Heard and Locksley,” likely meaning Heard still took a bunch of second-team reps. But when Heard and Swoopes split up first-team stuff, the staff was reportedly getting a look at true freshman Kai Locksley with the second group in team drills. The subject of Locksley is intriguing as he’s seemingly the forgotten-about man among fans - both in the current Texas QB controversy as well as the projected future with recruits like Shane Buechele and Sam Ehlinger coming in.
