As much as ou sucks and Bob Stoops is the epitome of sooner suckage, I have to admit that was cool for them that he came out of retirement to coach them in the Alamo Bowl. It was obvious that it meant something to the players, because they showed up in force, and at the end of the game you could see the emotion on Stoops’ face.

With that being said, I feel dirty, so I’m gonna go shower with bleach. ou still sucks.

That kind of ou flattery may require something like this to get the stinch off. Just joking, man. Good to see you posting

Yep, I keep saying this. Careful what you wish for OU fans. No way. NO WAY Venables bests Riley's 55-10 record in his first five years there.

On another note, Stoops got off of .500 in bowl games. He's now 10-9.

I don't usually agree with Colin Cowherd but I thought was somewhat funny and true.

Seems Cowherd is awfully upset OU won last night with an interim coach. Cowherd hasn’t ever talked to me or maybe he’d get it, I couldn’t be happier Riley is gone. I’m not thrilled about the recruits he took with him but it happens. I think Lebby will do a fine job. If Bob could do it and be successful. Brent sure as heck can too. What head coaching resume did Stoops bring with him when he came to OU?

What about winning a playoff game? You think Venables will do that? Bob Stoops was just enshrined into the CFB hall of fame, bowl record and all. Stoops has his issues but overall a heck of a career

Well before OK fans start beating their chests like Tarzan about what a bad ass team they have there's one thing that has to be mentioned. The OR team they played last night dressed less than 60 players.

I was aware of Thibideoux, but not that many others. Wow. Thibideoux by himself was huge

Here in Oklahoma the fans are saying in one game Stoops is much better than Reilley even though Oregon had 30 players out.

You do realize Stoops was our HC for much more than just this “one game”, correct?

I love the Sooners thumping their chest about giving up 32 points and 500 yards of offense to a depleted Oregon team lol. Can’t wait to watch them have the same results with Venables. I’m just wondering what the excuses will be this time?

You're assuming that OU makes the CFP, lol.
Can’t wait to watch the defense struggle again next year to see what kind of excuses they come up with. How many defensive coordinators have they been through now and the problem was never fixed? I have a hard time believing just changing the scheme is going to solve all the problems.

What specifically leads you to conclude our defense will have the same results with Venables?

Awfully sure of yourself. I guess we will see. If Williams stays, OU will win 10+ games again next year.

They will fundamentally be better on defense next year and should improve though I don't think they'll be fielding any top 10-15 defenses until BV has been there and recruited for a few years.

I don’t think Williams is leaving

I don't think he leaves either. The move just wouldn't make any sense from a football and development perspective with the guys he has around him and with Lebby coming it. Just not a better situation out there for him, especially since he is already the guy here and owns the locker room. That said, stranger things have happened.

The only reason I mentioned that as a possibility is because it's the one variable that will likely have a major impact on the win total next year (and it probably wouldn't just be him that transferred if he made that choice) unless someone comparable pops up in the portal.

Yes, it would be huge. I simply think that it’s all about the NIL. I am sure the boosters are workinv overtime.

The 11 they put on the field on offense last night looked pretty good in the second half. Too bad they didn't show up earlier.

What specifically leads you and all Sooners fans to think that it’s going to magically be fixed over night with Venables is the real question.
Probably won’t be fixed overnight. Hoping it’ll be fixed though. Most of our starting Dline and best linebacker opted out of the bowl game and the backups played ok but there’s plenty of work to do for the new coach no doubt

The first half OU defense, without BV coaching, played well without 4 D starters who opted out. Not so good in the second half and the secondary the biggest concern. OU has some talent and BV a very good D recruiter. You guys are crowing over your OLine commits, which look very good,. We just as optimistic that BV will have the d playing better than they did this year. O another matter.

So you’re not going to answer my question? You’re the one who made the initial allegation that prompted my question, so perhaps you answer that first.

How many coordinators have you guys been through now the last 10+ seasons and it hasn’t fixed anything.

What was the question again?

If our QB Williams decides to portal out it could be a rough year next year. If he stays then I think we have a chance to be pretty good offensively. Defensively I'm hopeful to see consistent improvements in at least the basics next year. Our defense in the bowl game had the same mentality they've had under Riley, they lose intensity and have a hard time seizing momentum and putting teams away. That crept up in the 2nd half of the bowl game.
