Tired of all the whining. Let’s change the topic.
It’s been a lot of fun being back in the mix the last two years. Being legitimate national title contenders. It’s felt kind of like 2008 and 2009. One somewhat unexpected really good national title contending team followed by a really good national title contending team with a lot of expectations. If Arch is the real deal, then the fun continues. Let’s assume he is and it does.
What type of run do you think Texas is at the start of? Here are the choices:
1. The Chip Kelly five year run. national prominence always in the conversation, but doesn’t get over the hump.
2. The Mack Brown 10 year run. Always in the title hunt, perennial top five, one national title, conference titles and big bowl wins.
3. The Pete Carroll seven year run. White-hot dominance, multiple national titles, multiple conference titles.
4. The Dabo/Kirby five-year run. Similar to the Pete Carroll run just a little shorter. Kirby not done yet, maybe. Dabo, done.
5. The Bob Stoops/Lincoln Riley 15 year run. Always in the title hunt, perennial top five, playing for multiple national titles, won multiple conference titles.
6. The Jim Harbaugh 5 year run. Five years in the mix, win one national title. Dominate primary rival.
7. The Saban. This is never happening again. Don’t be a fool.
