Syracuse graduate transfer tight end Kendall Moore wanted to enroll at Texas no later than the second semester, but is still not on campus, as of Tuesday early afternoon.

Moore planned to enroll at Texas when the first summer school session began on June 1. However, because of a disconnect between Moore and Syracuse, the tight end recently learned he was two credits shy of graduating from his university. During an interview in May, Moore told me he was enrolled in an online course and intended to join the Longhorns in June, or early July at the latest.

Texas’ second semester of summer school began on Monday, and Moore is still not enrolled.

There is a hope within the building that Moore can graduate from Syracuse and make it into summer school. However, I was unable to receive a time frame that explains who long it could take more to get accepted into grad school after finishing up at Syracuse.

Moore is currently in Austin, but cannot participate in offseason workouts with the Longhorns until he is enrolled. If Moore is able to get into Texas, he would have to master the playbook in a few weeks, while developing instant chemistry with quarterback Shane Buechele.

When I asked if Moore would be extremely behind if he joined the team in July or August, I was told, “I wouldn’t jump to that yet. Still some time and veteran guys adapt pretty quickly.”

In my opinion, if Moore can enroll at some point, Herman has an extra body in a thin tight end room. Outside of that, he will need to be one hell of a player to have an impact this season under these circumstances.
